Hello,
we figured out that when we are connected to several devices, the view VPN Groups (opened) are empty and the VPN close dialog appears for every opened session.
The VPN Group feature is configured on the parent folder - for all session below the VPN section is configured to inherited.
Regards,
Min
Hi Min,
You are right we have an issue with the VPN Group, when the VPN Session is inherited.
Regarding the VPN close dialog I'm not able to reproduce that issue. What is the VPN/SSH/Gateway configuration on the folder?
Mine are:
Open: Always Connect
Close: On session close
VPN Group: "My VPN Group"
Type: Session
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
Hi David,
the config on the folder is:
Open: After ping / scan timeout
Close: Ask on session end
VPN Group: My VPN Group (with spaces, without quotation marks)
Typ: Session
Thanks,
Min
Hi Min,
I wasn't able to reproduce the Close pop-up on session, but I will open a ticket for the first issue and I will ask the engineering department to have a look at the configuration at the same time to be sure.
Thanks,
David Grandolfo
Hi David,
just to be sure, the pop-up comes up when you close a session - not on opening... If you have 5 open session from the same VPN Group - the pop up comes for every opened session if you close it.
I will recreate an additional scenario in a new datasource on my end and look if it is the same behaviour.
Thank you!

Min
Hi,
Correct, that is what I tested.
I have a folder which is configured with the VPN (including a VPN group with space and without quotation mark), my session and the VPN session is under that main folder.
I tested with RDM 13.5.13 and 13.6.0 64 bits, as administrator and not.
The VPN I test with is a OpenVPN. The sessions was SSH and RDP.
I also test with multiple scenario directly on each session or with every Close option on the folder and I don't have the Pop-up.
Do I miss something?
Thanks
David Grandolfo
Hi,
Interesting.. this is also my scenario.. VPN = Microsoft but I think this can not the cause.. I will try to recreate the behaviour in 13.6.0..
Thank you! ;)
Regards,
Min
Hi again,
I can reproduce the behaviour on 13.6.0 - weird :\:
Regards,
Min
Hi David,
any news regarding this issue?
We are now on 13.6.1 and the behaviour still exists. Just a note - doesn't matter what type of vpn is used - if you set a vpn group the pop up for close the vpn appears on every session close.. so if you open 6 sessions from the same vpn group, the dialog pop ups 6 times (for every opene conections) If you didn't set up a vpn group the vpn close dialog appears not at all. I open a session, close the session and the vpn stands open without asking (Of course, ask on close is configured)
We use various different vpn tunnels during the day - day for day - it would be great if we can get the working behaviour ;) - Now you have every time double check if you are still in an other vpn tunnel :)
Thanks!
Regards,
Min
Hi Min,
First, I need to tell you sorry. I don't know why but probably I read the forum too fast and I wasn't able to reproduce / understand the issue. Today I just re test everything and I was able to reproduce it.
So I just open a ticket with the engineering department if they are able to not prompt the "confirm disconnect" for each session when a "VPN group" is active and it's not the last session.
For further follow up the ticket number is: WIN-975
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
Hello Min,
The issue with the close prompt of inherited VPNs should be fixed starting from the beta of RDM 14.

Hello,
RDM Beta 13.9.1.0 has been released today and, if possible, I would like you to try it in your dev environment.
However, please note that a database upgrade is required, so please perform the upgrade properly by following the steps in this help article
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/database_upgrade.htm
You can download this latest release here

Hi David,
thanks for the update! For sure I'll try it and give you feedback ;)
Regards,
Min
Hi David,
unfortunately the issue is still present in 13.9.2.0. No sessions are counted in the VPN Groups view and also the VPN disconnect prompt appears after every session closing.
Regards,
Min
Hi Min,
I'm sorry for this, when I test it on my computer. I do not see the VPN Group count. But I do not have the prompt as I had before.
I will do other test to reproduce the issue.
I'm now test with RDM 13.9.4.
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
@Everyone,
After few tests with Min the issue is solve with RDM above 13.9.7.

David Grandolfo
