5.6.0.16 Set to run at startup prompting

avatar

I just updated to 5.6.0.16. when I go to Options and check Always run at startup, it says I have to be an administrator or run as an admin to change the setting. So I closed it, ran it as Admin, and checked the box. Then I closed it and reopened without elevating it. Now if I go to the Options screen, the Always run at startup option is checked, but when I hit OK even without changing any setting, it prompts me again that I can't change the Always run at startup option without being an administrator--even though I changed it while an admin, and I haven't changed it (or any other option), just opened and OK'd the Options box. It should only prompt me (in my opinion :-) if I've tried to change this setting whether it's on or off.

Of course, it would be cooler to have a way to click "Always run at startup" and have it prompt me to elevate to set the option, then and there :-)

I don't know if this happened in older versions, this is the first time I've used that option. Windows 7 RTM x64.

Hi,
You're right, it should not prompt you again. I will verify why it prompt again. I know that it's possible to elevate a process, but I never found a way in .NET, only in C++

Also the autostart feature was implemented before Vista, and now with the security model, it's complicated, maybe it's more simple to add it in the Startup folder. You can pass the command line option /silent
