Issue with Offline Mode

avatar

We are currently testing RDM, and making use of the Beta release as this supports 2FA management via Devolutions Server.

One thing we have noticed however is that when 2FA is managed and controlled via DVLS for our RDM users, when RDM is setup to allow that user to use this in Offline mode, RDM fails to open properly when offline. Essentially I have made sure that both our Data Source and the user itself is set to have Offline available (read only) but when I go to open RDM when the server is not available (i.e. off the network) RDM prompts the user for domain credentials (twice) and then loads into RDM but does not show any content.

Once RDM is open however, if we refresh the navigation panel appears but the main 'embedded' screen doesn't appear.

We are running RDM Beta 12.4.4 and DVLS Beta 4.0.16.0.

Thanks
Rich

Hello,

There are 3 settings to set to make the offline mode work properly.

Please have a look at these two help articles to enable this feature;

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have checked through these attached links and happy that these 3 areas are setup correctly for our user we are testing with, bu we are still getting this issue.

Do you have any other suggestions please?

Thanks
Rich

The scenario you describe is a valid use of the offline and all should have worked properly. Unfortunately it is currently not the case. We have been working on the offline detection and recovery on the last few builds. We will investigate the issue further.

Hi Stefane,

Perfect thanks for the update.

Do you need any further information from me with regards to our setup at the moment to help your investigations?

Thanks again.

We are currently unable to reproduce so I must not be configured exactly as you are.

Could you send me (via private message) screen shots of your data source configuration File -> Data Sources -> Edit (Connection & Advanced tabs only).

Support will be sending me the error report you sent this morning so that will also help.

Thanks,

Ah ha, I'm able to reproduce. Had to check "Always ask for password" in the data source settings. I'm working on the fix. Chances this should be fixed early next week at. I will let you know when the next beta containing the fix is available.

As a work around at this moment you could try setting the username & password in the data source.

Hi Stafane,

Yes had that set as we want our users to always enter their Domain credentials when opening RDM.

Sounds great, glad you were able to reproduce the issue. I will await to hear when this fix has been added and when we might be able to see this is another beta release.

Thanks for your time looking into this and for all the quick responses!

Rich

Hi Rich,

The fix is done internally. There should be a new beta release in the next day or so. I will keep you posted.

Hi Stefane,

That's great, thanks for the quick turn around!

Also as an aside, do you know if the option within RDM Beta for the DVLS Data source, where you can select 'Use Windows Authentication' is also being resolved in the next Beta release? At the moment, for the Username/Password option on the data source we have specified %userdomain%\%username% which will auto populate the username field. However if we select the option 'Use Windows Authentication', RDM client appears to crash repeatedly?

Thanks again

Just to help with my explanation, I have attached a screenshot of the option I am referring to.

Thanks

Hello,

I can confirm that the Use Windows Authentication option works in the internal build of DVLS.

So, this should work in the next official release of DVLS.

Hi Erica,

Thanks for the information.

Are you able to provide any time/dates in which we could expect the next releases for RDM and DVLS please?

Thanks

Hello,

Regrettably, the Support Department cannot provide an exact release date as the full process (Build – Quality Assurance – Release) is out of our control.

The Engineering Department is working diligently and they will publish the build as soon as they deem it acceptable for public release.

Hi,

I was just wondering if there was any more updated information on when we might see the release of this fix?
