Remote Desktop 12 (Beta) - Synchronizer for VMWare doesn't work !!!
Hi.
I dont know if you have tested the new feature "Synchronizer for VMWare" but i tired it with Virtual Centers and Standalone ESXi Servers but nothing works. I get everytime the message that it could not find new computers.
Can you check it please?
Hello Andi,
I just test on my side with the new version RDM 11.9.2.0 with an ESXI servers 5.1 and 5.5 and it's working properly.
What is your version of RDM ?
Into your Synchronizer does your Console connection mode is by default ?
What is your version of ESXi ?
Does the VMware Console works and can connect to your ESXi server ?
Best Regards,
David Grandolfo
Hi.
I tested the version 11.9.2.0 with an ESXi Server 6 Update 02
I have installed VMware Remote Console 8.0.1 on my workstation
i connect through vSphere Client to the ESXi Server.
Is VMWare Console needed for this synchronization?
Hello,
Let me do the test with the ESXi server 6 update 2.
But could you test with VMware Console integrated into RDM. You do not need any Vmware Application on your computer to make it work.

@Andi,
Hello,
We just found a problem with the 32-bit version. The engineer department are working on it.
On my 32 Bits version I get an error : ERROR SILENT: Connection to server failed!
Could you try onto the 64-bit version if your problem is the same ?
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
I try at first to use the integrated VMWare VMRC 8.0... i cant connect because it needs ID !?
How can i find out which ID my ESXi Server has?
Hi again.
Sorry this was my mistake. I used always the Remote Remote Console and not VMWare Console.
But at this time, as i used the VMWare Console i could not connect to the standalone ESXi Server.
I dont know what i can do now? Any idea?
The VMWare Console tab is opened but everything is grey. I doesnt connect to the ESXi Server
Hello,
Could you try to configure into your properties the Consoles connection mode at default. It will user the PowerCLI program. Please review our help about that : http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?pane_vmware.htm
Do you have any error message when you are trying to use the synchronizer or the VMware Console ?
Best Regards,
David Grandolfo
The Consoles Connection Mode is default.
I downloaded and installed vSphere PowerCLI 6.3 Release 1
Should i reboot my workstation after installing it?
i dont know why it doesnt connect.
I use the Remote Desktop Manager as portable version. I dont know if this is a problem
Hello,
Could you test directly onto your PowerCLI to see if you could connect with this help. http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?troubleshooting_vmware.htm
When you try the "Open-VMConsoleWindows" and they give you the error unable to find the specified browser:
That's mean VMWare console needs that you set your Browser by default.
You need to start your PowerCLI in administrator mode and type these commands depends on the default browser you choose.
Internet Explorer
Set-PowerCLIConfiguration –VMConsoleWindowBrowser 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe'
Firefox
Set-PowerCLIConfiguration –VMConsoleWindowBrowser “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe”
The Help works fine but your RDM do not work. Try with PowerCLI 5.8 please.

David Grandolfo
I could all the commands test in the vSphere CLI without any errors.
I dont know where is the issue :-(
But i think i coukd resolve it. Everything works fine when i start Remote Desktop Manager as Administrator.
Is it really needed?
I could now use the vmware syncronize functionality. But.. all the synchronized servers are created as vmware console connections.
Is there a possibility to create instead of vmware console connections, rdp connections?
Hello Andi,
Thanks for your feedback.
The synchronizer VMware only create VMware Console connections. We cannot convert these entries to a Microsoft RDP connexion because if you look at the proprieties of your VMware Console Connections the host is your ESXi Host not the client host.
If you want to create a lot of RDP entries, you can import it by a CSV who will be much faster than create it once at the time.
Here is a link to help you with the CSV import.
http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?file_importcsvwizards.htm
Also be sure for your portable version that you follow theHelp, it will probably resolve the Run-As admin restriction that you have. http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/installation_portableusb.htm

Thanks for your support. Can you please check your last link.. this is the same like before
Hello,
I also wanted to add, we will add an "RDP" option to the VMWare synchronizer but it will only be able to fill the host with the VM Name, you would have to fill the rest of the information with a template. This will be available in RDM 12.

Hello.
I tried now the vmware synchronizer with a larger environment.
I mean, i tried it with a virtual center (16 ESXi Hosts)
It begins to synchronize, but at the end nothing was synchronized.
Is there an issue with larger environments?
All other virtual centers with until 3 hosts works correctly
And regarding the Hyper-V synchronizer
Is there a possibility to connect to a System Center 2012 R2 or only to a hyper-v host?
@Andi, We have created a Hyper-V synchronizer which is not using the same API as System Center AFAIK
Maybe you should visit the feature request board and ask for a System Center synchronizer
Best regards,
Maurice
Hello Andi,
Vcenter is presently not supported into Remote Desktop Manager but we are working to release a Console specially for Vcenter.

Hello
You wrote to me -> Also be sure for your portable version that you follow theHelp, it will probably resolve the Run-As admin restriction that you have.
I created the portable version like in this link but it doesnt resolve the problem that i have to start it always as administrator.
Without this rights, some functions doesnt work.
Any idea what we can do now?
Hello,
I'm not able to reproduce that error on our side. Could you test your application on another computer without the Run-As administrator to see if it's working or not .
Also when your functions aren't working do you have an error into the application log ?
