PuTTyPortable not opening embedded

PuTTyPortable not opening embedded

avatar

Hello,
I have started using PuTTyPortable as a replacement for PuTTy (I have two computers that I want to keep in sync and a lot of putty sessions). I was able to get RDM to start using PuTTyPortable as it's executable but, now when it opens a session it opens External not embedded. Is there someone who could look into this and help me get it back to being embedded?

Hi David,
Thanks for the quick reply. The check box in TeamViewer is unchecked. Also, the embedded sessions worked fine with the old-school version of PuTTy. It's just with since I started using PuTTyPortable that it won't embed.

Could you post a print screen of the Putty window you get in external mode?

I'm not surre how to post a screen print to this forum but, it's just a standard putty window.

Just for a test could you try to set the Use Putty old integration mode in File->Options

No, that didn't work.

So, I think that the issue is that puttyPortable.exe is a "starter" program that then calls the actual putty.exe program. I think that since it's a program calling another program, it fails to integrate properly. If I point it directly to the putty program that installs as part of the puttyPortable installation, it works better.

I wouldn't call this solved but, I have a suitable work around for now. If you guys want to put this on a wish list somewhere, I'm sure others would appreciate it as well. Thanks David!

Hi,
I think you've found the issue. We monitor the process to embed the main window. Since it's only a starter the process closes after launching the other application. I think you've found the solution by pointing on it directly.
