This happens in both the most recent release version and the last few beta versions.
I like to use RDM with as much client area visible as possible. I have removed (not hidden) the stuff snapped to the bottom edge. The left-edge navigation is unpinned. I also use the special full-screen maximize button (to the left of minimize, restore, maximize) to hide the menus and Quick Toolbar and other Toolbar buttons next to it (this stuff is configured as Above).
Whenever I initiate a new RDP connection from the Navigation tool snapped to the left edge, the client area is filled, but there the scroll bars appear and I have a little room to scroll horizontally and vertically. My suspicion is that the initial sizing is not accounting for the parts of RDM that are still visible.
So, I must use the ellipses button ("...") to exit full screen, which forces a reconnect for resizing (2nd connection). Now I use the Full Screen button which causes another reconnection (3rd connection). However, the first time I use this Full Screen button after the ellipses button, it never works. The ribbon bar disappears for a moment, then comes right back (but this time is obscuring the top of my RDP session). I press the Full Screen button again, which causes a reconnect (the 4th connection) and now all is well.
The display settings for my RDP profiles are "Remote desktop size = Current work area size" and "Screen sizing mode = Auto scale resolution". Multi-monitor turned off.
I am using this on a Windows 10 preview computer. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this, but I can try installing onto 8.1 if you'd like me to.
I think a lot of this has to do with the unnecessary display of the ribbon. When I exit full screen mode, the full ribbon appears (and obscures the unpinned Navigation bar). Also, when it is in this state, if I change focus to another program it jumps back to full screen.
Hi,
I did a change with the full screen mode. Could you try the new beta? Send me an export of your session if it does not work. I will change the host and credentials to try to reproduce it.

I just installed 10.0.20.0 and the behavior is unchanged. Could you point me towards instructions to export the session? I saw plenty of things to export when right-clicking on the session definition in the navigation toolbar, but I couldn't see how to export the session.

Hi,
Just right click on the session and use Export-> Export Selection (.rdm)

Perhaps a video could also help or few print screens.

Here's the .RDM file (tweaked so the forum software wouldn't choke on it):

Hi,
I'm unable to reproduce it. Just for a test to see if it's related to your layout. Could you try the classic UI in File->Options | User Interface
