Hi,
I'm using RDM Beta 9.9.1.0. I try to set a user specific setting on an existing credential.
For every connection, we use a placeholder for the credentials using 'Username/password'. Every user can use the user-specific setting to override for his password-source. But in the beta, this is not possible. I can set a different U/P, but can't change the source to KeePass or lastpass or ...
As I don't use change the passes regular, I can't tell since when this function stopped working. I do have some existing entries which are default U/P and custom KeePass. I can update the already created custom entries to an other keepass uuid, but not to an other source.
As a side-note, I thought I could also change an existing entry to a new type. Now I have to create a new placeholder, update all related connections and have all users create a new custom credential when necessary.

Hello,
Indeed this was changed in this release cycle. It confused a lot of our users and caused many support requests.
Since credential entries are meant to be linked to other sessions, we expect that users will simply create a new credential entry and use either the batch edit more or the user specific settings to link the sessions to the new credentials.
Must your workflow result in an entry being transformed in another type?
Maurice
Hi Maurice,
yes, as I prefer KeePass, some use LastPass and other prefer entering U/P in RDM. So, this is common for us.
And our best practice is to update only the credentials and leave the connections untouched. The batch edit could help, but makes on a cluster a lot of exceptions. As the credential-entry e.g. 'AD-account' is simple and single-point to update.

if you have a limited number of credentials that can be used for multiple sessions, I would set the session to use 'inherited credentials' and set my credentials on the parent folder
I think that if I were in your case, I would almost always use the "Open (Select Credential Entry)" command, it allows to select even in the private vault.

Hi,
I have made a change to re-enable the credential type selection. This should simplify the UI.
