Hi!
I am using RDM 9.2.6.0 with Xenserver 6.2 SP1, but there is a problem:
If I connect to one of my pools, I see: "Unable to connect to data source" although the credentials are the right ones and the server is reachable.
Is there any possiblity to debug this?
Regards,
Stril
sorry about last post, it seems I cannot delete it for now...
What kind of data source are you using?
We do not have a xenserver plugin, but a xenserver console. Is this what you are using to connect to your pool?
Maurice
Hi!
Yes, I am using the Xenserver Console. My data source is a MySQL-server.
It is just one of 3 Xenserver pools, where the connect fails - the one with most of my VMs (about 70 VMs).
Could it be a problem with the large number of VMs?
Stril
Just to be clear, the "unable to connect to data source" message is a
from RDM to indicate your MySQL server is unavailable, no?
Could you send a screenshot of the error dialog?
Maurice
Hello Maurice!
Of course, the error dialog is quite strange, but I thought, that would be a principle problem of RDM.
Every time, I try to start a session, that fails (e.g. a VNC session to a system that is not running), i am getting two error dialogs:
- Failed to connect to server !
- Unable to connect to your data source
And - 100% shure - the datasource is available all the time! Pressing o.k. lets me go on working.
I attached two screenshots:
screen_connect_xen.jpg
screen_connect_vnc.jpg
As long as the connection to the client-system is working, i do not have any problem with my data source.

Hello,
Is there something relevant in Help - View application logs?
Maurice
Hello!
Not really:
[11.07.2014 17:17:07 - 9.2.6.0]ERROR XenServerManager::xenServerHost was null, it may be because the session was lost by the server, attempt to reconnect
Is it "normal", that RDM always thinks, the data source is offline, when a connection fails?
Stril
No it's not. We had a old bug fixed. What version do you use?
David Hervieux
Hello!
As written in the first post: RDM 9.2.6.0
Stril
Update to RDM 9.2.10 to get the fix with the crash and offline.
David Hervieux
Hi!
The update did change the behaviour.
The Xenserver-Connect does still fail, but the data source error does not appear.
Now, there is no error message, when I start the connection.

still nothing in the application logs?
Maurice
Hi Maurice!
Now, I start the session and then, I wait infinite. Application Log shows:

Hello,
We havent touched that class since july 2013, our server is 6.0.2 though
Are the pools that work on a different server?
Maurice
Hello,
Xenserver Pools cannot share a server.
All the pools are on Xenserver 6.2, but the one with the highest number of VMs fails.

Stril
