Downloaded the new 6.1 update, then added the Whois Addon. I restarted the application as it said to. I type the domain into the textbox of the addon, click refresh, and it sits there looking at me. It says it's busy for 5-10 seconds in the form of 'Application Not Responding', then goes back to looking at me. It doesn't seem to work.
Hi,
I will give it a try today and come back to you. Thank you for the information.

Hi,
It's seems to work fine for me, do you have a Internet proxy or something like installed? We do a web request to get the information.
David Hervieux
I am behind a Corporate firewall. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. If there is something that needs to be opened, or configured, I would love to know what it is.
Hi,
We do a simple TCP request to .whois-servers.net. For example google.com.whois-servers.net. I don't know what needs to be open

It seems I would need port 43 open for that to work. Various Telnet commands have proven unsuccessful, as it looks like Port 43 is not open. I would imagine a lot of people behind larger corporate firewalls would find the same, as Port 43 is not one of the standard ports opened.
C:\Users\>telnet whois-servers.net 43
Connecting To whois-servers.net...Could not open connection to the host, on port
43: Connect failed
Do you have an idea how I can provide an alternative?
David Hervieux
It would seem there are HTTP proxies out there. I would think that might be a slightly better solution, as Port 80 is usually wide open.

I haven't figured out how to use a command line option yet, but that's due to time constraints.
