Hi Devolution's devs,
Im sure ive not seen it in the current beta Add on manger or in the release notes so I wanted to request if Sophos Connect Client could be an addition to RDM's Addon library please? We have the old Sophos SSL VPN client but there is Sophos Connect client & admin which came out a few releases ago on Sophos XG v17.5.x.
Please find links below which may come in useful: -

If you need the MSI's I can provide those if needed.

Hello,
Thank you for providing links for the CLI information. We will open a ticket to add this addon to RDM.
Do you have an example of the commands you would like integrated within RDM? From what I can tell it would be the Add and Remove commands when RDM opens/closes the VPN.
Regards,
Hubert Mireault
Basically id like the same functionality as the existing Sophos VPN addon but for the new Sophos Connect Client VPN.
Thanks

Hello,
This is still on our todo list. We've been focusing more on stability and bringing a few big changes to RDM with the current beta 2019.2.X, but we'll hopefully have time to work on this soon.

So still not had time to look at creating a Sophos Connect VPN client Addon??
My bad found the SDK thread! lol soz
Well that was depressing the SDK thread doesnt seem to have any SDK or documentation downloads in it? Can someone from Devolutions Send me the RDM SDK and Docs pls?
Thanks

Hello John,
If you are able to create a small application in C# with two buttons it will be easy for us to convert it to a VPN connection type.
Connect
Disconnect
The problem that we have with this type of add-on is the test environment.

David Hervieux
Hi David,
Yeah I actually wanted to create the addon myself but i wasn't able to find the RDM ADDON SDK anywhere, i did post on the SDK Thread too asking for it but haven't had a reply yet so are you able to PM me a link for the SDK?

We no longer offer the SDK:
https://blog.devolutions.net/2019/06/improved-feature-rdm-add-on-manager
We have technical limitation (UI components).

Great so the SDK thread is redundant now then, ive been asking customer services and posting all diff threads here as i need to create my own Sophos Connect Addon ASAP but without the SDK i dont have a set base for my development?
So about this Sophos Connect addon, Could i de-compile the existing Sophos VPN Addon to modify? You mentioned C# so can i assume thats how RDM and the existing addons have been using code wise yes?
If you could elaborate a bit more on what exactly i need to do to get this Addon made pls PM me if its better for this subject?
Also you might want to get the SDK thread removed if the SDK has gone full stop now but that news has really disappointed me as id expect the SDK would be something you would encourage use of to help get more ADDON's created. Now im getting a better idea as to why so many of my other ADDON's have stopped working?
Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to jump in. We were actually working on integrating this add-on, and it should be available in the next beta version. Since we don't have the infrastructure to test the add-on here, it would be great if you could give us feedback on if everything works as expected.
Regards,
Hubert Mireault
I would be happy to Test the add on for you thats no problem! So if you would like me to test it PM it to me before you rls it and ill give it a good run in before you add it officially! I am a veteran Beta / alpha tester!!

Hello,
This add-on will be integrated with version 2020.1.9.0. Only the Add and Disable commands will be supported for now since we don't have the proper setup to test everything, but we could probably add more features in future updates.

Jonathan Del Signore
As mentioned in an earlier post if you ever need anything tested in RDM im happy to help test new Addons or even other RDM aspects?
Would it be possible to get the raw unbuilt resources used for this addon at all?

Hi John,
Good news in the current version of RDM 2020.1.16.0 a fix is implemented. Unfortunately, we do not have the proper infrastructure to test the fix. Could you test it and inform us if there is still an issue?
Thanks and we appreciate the time you are taking to test.

Thanks David,
I tried this last night but it still doesnt work for some reason?? It fires off the cmd line client but it doesnt actually initiate the VPN?
The logs arent very helpful either without being able to add the -verbose switch to the cli commands, is there anyway to add that as an option in RDM?
Thanks
JK

Hi John,
Is your Sophos connect client already opened when you launch the session ? If not could you try it that way ? We assumed the add command would open the client but it may not be the case.
Thanks

Tried opened and closed last night, tried every way i could think of but it just wouldnt fire up the connection it tried to fire up a connection but didnt succeed for some reason?

Hello,
We think we found what was causing the issues and made changes to the way we open connections. They will be included in version 2020.1.18.0.
Thanks again for helping us with the testing !

Just installed RDM Ent 2020.1.19.0 64bit, and testing the changed to the Sophos Connect Addon now, its definitely looking better and ive got the Verbose setting which is excellent but its showing me this now see attachment, its saying its enabled the connection but the sophos NIC adapter is still not connected?
Im going to keep playing and ill reply if i get it working!
Thanks again this is moving in the right direction now!

OK ive got it working now, I had to match the connection name exactly how its used in the GUI and then set credentials to none. Once i had done that it worked!! Great many many thanks for this its going to be very useful to me.

Hi,
Just to follow on from this, we are trying to make use of this Sophos Connect Add-on now ourselves, however we cannot find a way of passing credentials to the connection from the credential repo in RDM. At the moment, the only way we can pass creds to the VPN connection when the entry is opened in RDM is to enter the creds 'free-hand' into the connection entry,
Instead we need to have the option of selecting from the credentials drop down which credential from the repository this connection should use. Is there a way this can be done please?
Thanks
Rich
Hello,
There was indeed a problem when using credentials from the repository. This issue will be fixed in version 2020.3.2.0.
Regards
Jonathan Del Signore
Great thanks for confirming and look forward to testing this on the new release.
Also, do you know if the behaviour of referencing the configuration file might be changed/improved as well? Currently the configuration file referenced in the VPN entry needs to be a location that is local to RDM, ideally it would be better if RDM was able to store the configuration file as part of the entry, much like the OpenVPN client works?
Thanks again
Rich
Hello Rich,
That's a good idea, we'll open a ticket for this feature request, though I can't give you an estimate on when we'll have it completed.
Just to let you know, you won't be able to tweak the settings like in OpenVPN, instead you will be able to save the data of a file within the entry. RDM will then use this to generate a temporary file to connect. As far as I know this is the only way we can connect to Sophos Connect Client (through referencing a file).

Hubert Mireault
