Hello,
Just upgraded to RDM 10.0.4.0 and now if I need to connect to a server as a different user and select "Open (Prompt for Credentials)" I get the Credentials dialog box. I believe this is new as I used to just go straight to the Windows Security Login. If I enter in the username and password (I have tried entering in the domain as well). I ALWAYS get brought to the Windows Security Login page to enter in my password again. It does not matter if I enter in the correct or wrong password in the RDM Credentials Dialog I always have to enter in the password a 2nd time for the Windows credentials login. It is like the RDM Credentials Dialog is not passing the password to the server.
First question: Is there a way to disable the RDM credentials dialog box from popping up and just let me get to the Windows Security login?
Second question: If not then how can I get the RDM Credentials dialog box to pass the password on so I don't have to enter it twice.
This was never an issue in previous versions as I would just go to the Windows Security login initially. I have tried this on at least 6 different servers across multiple customer sites that all have different policies (which I have no authority to change anyway) so it is not something I can adjust on the remote server to fix it needs to be a local fix.
See the attached picture for screen shots of the login I am referring to.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
I remember that we've made a fix for that in the current beta. Would you mind to give it a try? You could also wait tomorrow for RDM 10.1.0.0.
We will investigate if it still an issue.

Loaded RDM 10.1.0.0 and behavior is still the same.
Thanks
Brian
Could you try to change one settings:
File->Options | Type-> RDP
Allow Remote Connection to handle empty password
David Hervieux
That setting was already checked. I unchecked, tried it and same thing. Put it back to checked. It acts the same if I put in the correct password on the initial RDM Credentials dialog or if I enter in the wrong password. Doesn't seem to be passing the password to the server. Is there a way to just disable the RDM Credentials dialog box and just have the Windows server credentials box pop up?
What Windows Server is it? The setting you uncheck was supposed to let Windows handle the security. I will double check on my side if it's handled correctly with the Open prompt for parameter.

Hi,
I can reproduce the problem and I will add an option to let Windows handle the security
David Hervieux
Just reply to this thread when the fix gets put in place.
Thanks for the great support!
Brian
This is in RDM 10.1 with the patch. This means that you haven't installed it you can do it right now.

I have 10.1.0.0 installed. If I go to File>Options>Types>RDP I have "Allow remote connection to handle empty password" checked. When I connect with the prompt for credentials options I still get the RDM credentials dialog box before the windows security box. Am I not understanding your explanation? Is there another option somewhere in 10.1.0.0 that turns off the RDM credentials dialog box from appearing so that the first dialog box I see is the windows security credentials box?
Thanks,
Brian
Just make sure that the setting allow connection to handle empty password is checked in File->Options | Type -> RDP
David Hervieux
This setting is checked. It does not prevent the RDM credentials box from popping up and the only way to continue is to enter a username and password. The password does not get passed so I end up having to enter the password again on the Windows credentials box that pops up next. I hope I am being clear but what does having that setting checked change for me? It still acts the same way and I have to enter the password twice.
You seems to have done the right thing. Could you export me your configuration in File->Options. You can exclude the data source. I want to compare with mine.
David Hervieux
Thanks David,
Here is the configuration file.

On another note. I had to uninstall version 10 and drop back to version 9. The other problem I found was with the status flag for each site. We use the flags and session status messages to let members of the team know what is currently going on or if one of us is working on a site. I found that if I would have several sites open (like more than 6) as I logged out of the site it would clear the status flag automatically. This would not happen all the time and it took me awhile to catch as I kept thinking I had changed the flag and entered in a message for that site but I would look back and it would be cleared and back to normal. I finally saw the flag disappear automatically when I logged out of a site. I loaded version 9 back on and have not had the credentials problem (because I go directly to the windows credentials screen) and the flags and messages are not being deleted. If it makes any difference the flags were changed and then cleared under the local favorites tab. That is usually where I throw the sites I am working on and edit everything under that tab.
Brian
Which status do you use? Is is locked?
David Hervieux
Could you post a print screen of the button you were using to use the prompt for credentials? Are you sure that those settings were checked?

Hi David,
I hope this helps. See the attached picture. I will tag the warning flag to the site and sometimes add my initials or change the status message to something applicable. Then in the RDP list you will see the Site Name [Warning]. I was having problems with this warning message / status being cleared and going back to default with just Site Name.
Thanks,
Brian

Also after looking at your attached picture I am not sure I had the option "Let host handle the credentials with "Open prompt for credentials" I did not see this option under Advanced so that might have been my mistake. Sounds like if that prevents the RDM from opening up the credentials dialog box that that would fix having to enter the password twice.
