Hi,
opening a https Link in external display sometimes opens an empty browser window. It looks like the link is not handed over.
It´s not always, only sometimes and we didn´t found out when and when not, yet.
And we cannot open embedded https links if the certificate is unknown...
Any ideas?

Sebastian
Which browser do you use? Have you tried to open it embedded but with Firefox?
David Hervieux
Hello
We use IE 9.0
Issue 1
Open HTTPS Links external display
Embedded it works but now always with external Browser
Issue 2
Open HTTPS Links embedded
Issue is the same with IE or Firefox. This issue occur only with https Links and unknown Certificates. I don´t see the page to accept the unknown Certificate.
Regards
Matthias
Here is a log Entry to Issue 1

We have RDM 9.2.0
Could you try to run RDM with the Run As Administrator command?
David Hervieux
I open RDM with run as administrator, but with the same result.
a empty Browser Session has been opened, with same log Entry
What engine do you use with Firefox embedded? we support 2 different engines.
David Hervieux
MozNET (R19.8)
If you use Firefox (GeckoFx engine) in embedded with the certificate hack (see here: http://forum.devolutions.net/topic1006-allow-embed-firefox-to-access-ssl-winvalid-certs.aspx#post5355)
Does that work?
Stéfane Lavergne
We use RDM on a Terminalserver and when i use the Administrator Account then i can open embedded Links with unsecure certificates. With a user Account it doesn´t work (also with run as administrator)
Tested with IE
If, in a non-admin TS session, you open the link in IE and accept the cert.
Now in RDM does it work?
Stéfane Lavergne
No i don´t see any certificate warning which i can confirm
Is this a public site that we can test on our side? If so please send me the url (via private message or email slavergne-at-devolutions-dot-net)

no sorry is a internal Website
Hello
perhaps it is easier to invest in the issue with external HTTP Session. This is also the solution favored by us.
When i open a HTTPS external Browser Session sometimes a empty Browser Session is opened.
In the log i see
Silent: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Zugriff verweigert --- (Access is denied)
at System.Diagnostics.ProcessManager.OpenProcess(Int32 processId, Int32 access, Boolean throwIfExited)
at System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessHandle(Int32 access, Boolean throwIfExited)
at System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessTimes()
at System.Diagnostics.Process.get_StartTime()
at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Business.BusinessHelper.GetLatestProcess(String processName, Process defaultProcess)
at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Business.Connectors.WebBrowserConnector.InternetExplorerAutomationHelper.Open(Connection parent, WebConnection connection, OpenConnectionMode openConnectionMode, String url)
This occurs as System Administrator and as a User on a Terminalserver Win2008R2. And also with installed HTTPS Certificates and unknown certificates.
I use IE because we will use Auto fill login Feature.
Regards
Matthias
You could try Chrome with the browser extension. This will enable the auto fill like IE.
David Hervieux
When i use Chrome the Form login section is grayed out
Enable web browser extension link is set
It's done with the browser extension only:
http://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/ExternalAddOns
David Hervieux
Thanks for the info
but chrome is unfortunately no alternative, because some of our Web applications will not work with chrome. So we must use IE.
You can use the browser extension for IE as well. Just don't enable the auto-fill out in RDM and let the browser extension do the job.
David Hervieux
Yes, but with IE i don´t have a issue with auto-fill out.
My Issue is
When i open a HTTPS external Browser Session sometimes a empty Browser Session is opened.
any futher tips?
For now we have no other suggestion. Sorry about that.
David Hervieux
I have news to this issue
The issue with the empty browser session occours when more users use RDM
RDM is installed on a terminal server. The first User of RDM opens, all is fine. The second user of RDM opens we have the issue with the empty browser session and the Log Entry ... Access is denied ....
It´s important for us we can use HTTP Links with RDM. would be great if you could help us.
Thanks
Hi,
I think that we will have to force the Browser Extension usage. I will take a look to make sure it's not using the OLE Automation which seems to cause the issue.
David Hervieux
Hi David,
is is important for us to get this working. Our largest ditributor is some kind of disctinct regarding usage of browsers for their Support Websites. Matthias and his team make full use of opening http Links from within RDM.
In change history of 9.2.4.0 there are some changes affecting browser things, should we already have a look on this version or are you still investigating?

Sebastian
Hi,
In RDM 9.2.4.0, an option named "Disable IE Automation" has been added when you are using IE in a web browser session in external mode. The option is under the login tab.
If RDM 9.2.4.0 is already installed on your computer, you can download the binary files and replace the files in your installation folder. If RDM 9.2.4.0 is not installed on your computer, you can download the .EXE to install it.
Jeff Dagenais
Ok i installed 9.2.4.0 and IE Browser Extension Addon.
Can explain to me how auto fillout from login and password works with browser extension?
Because with some webpages it works, but not with all.
I will done more tests if the issue with empty browser session is solved. I will give you a feedback.
Hello
We have a BIG Issue with the IE browser extension! The login details (username, password) are in a lot of false fields written. so we can´t configure any web applications, because we see the username on any false configuration items.
We had a lot of trouble with this. That´s not funny

Matthias
Are these websites public facing, if so please send us the link (private message if you like) so that we can have a look.
The browser extensions looks and the composition of the web page. Looking at the underlying HTML for Form tags for with Input tags of type text & password. Once found we populate those fields. Sometimes we need to implement special test/validation for certain web pages.

No it is a private Webpage from Cisco Callmanager
I wanted to send you a private message

Can you give me a e-mail Address

If you send me the content of the web page (right-click save-as) this should be enough for us to diagnose the issue.
