I can probably guess this answer but I want to check to be sure.
We're using RDM as a group and have a shared remote SQL DB for as our primary RDM data source. When upgrading RDM, sometimes it will specify that we need to update the SQL DB to a new revision otherwise the SQL data source won't be available until we do. I'm guessing that updating the SQL DB allows for additional information to be stored in the DB (additional tables, etc.).
In a group environment, if one user upgrades RDM (and RDM is allowed to update the SQL DB), what happens if the remaining users in the group don't upgrade their RDM. Does it cause DB issues and/or DB corruption or do those users who haven't upgraded their RDM yet end up not having access to the additional information in the SQL DB (i.e., they simply can't see the new data in the SQL DB until they upgrade their RDM)?
Thanks
Hi,
We try to keep the database structure as backward compatible as possible. The only issue that we don't have control is with the new types.
For example the contact type does not exist in RDM 8.0. This means that if you create a contact your RDM8 users won't be able to view it.

Thank you - that's good to know. We have someone in our group who is out an extended period and we were wondering if we can upgrade or not (and it that will impact them working remotely).
Thanks again!!
Figured another way to9 do it. Anyone wanting to upgrade to the latest release can also go to offline mode and then upgrade their RDM client. When everyone is upgraded then everyone can use online mode with SQL.
