some RDP embedded (tabbed) connection doesn't work

avatar

Hi.
I have a problem with some RDP embedded connections. When I try to connect, see this:

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons...

RDM version - 7.6.3.0, OS - Win7 SP1 64bit. Remote host - Win2003SP2. Tried recreate session, change RDP setting, RD GW settings etc. Actually I have 2 hosts with same problem.

Could you please advice?

Hi,
Maybe you could try to enable the Network Level Authentication in the Advanced setting of the RDP settings?

Edit session - Connection - Advanced:
Activate network level authentication - on
No luck.

Also I've tried to delete this reg keys:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSLicensing]

After - restart RDM. No luck.

But in same time I could connect to this servers with mstsc or "external" option in RDM. One server is domain terminal server, another one - just domain member server. Also I could connect with RDM to another domain members and terminal servers. Very strange problem.

If you try Remote Desktop Connection Manager from Microsoft, does it work?

We use the same ActiveX and this should give us a clue if it's a problem with it

Same problem with same servers (connection to another servers works fine!). Looks like problem the same. How could I solve ActiveX problem?

Honnesly I don't know. Do you have a Windows 8 machine? I'm asking because they now use the ActiveX instead of mstsc. Perhaps you could reproduce and report the problem?

Actually I don't have Win 8 workstation. So, I'll be waiting for solution...

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem: external works, embedded doesn't.
I have Windows 8 Enterprise x64, and RDM 7.5.0.0.
7.1.0.0 worked fine on this same system, but I cannot try that unfortunately.

Thank you,

Already tried everything that A1ex did.

Could you try it the version 8.0 with a trial?

Hi David,

It works with 8.0! After the installation it automatically imported my previous sessions and settings, so it's a proof that they were correct.
Is it possible now that there is a bug in 7.5.0.0? I repeat, 7.1.0.0 worked fine on this same system.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi,

Is there any progress figuring out the cause of the issue in 7.1.0.0?

Thanks,

Adam

I suspect that he 7.1 contains the old ActiveX dll. Perhaps you could try to import again your session in a blank data source (RDM 7.1)

Hello.

FYI. 8.0.12.0 - same problem. I've tried to create new DB and create new entry, no luck

Could you check the application log in Help->View Application Logs

David Hervieux

Here is log:
[31.01.2013 9:29:38]ERROR SILENT System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Managers.RDMOManager.SendRegistrationEnterprise(RDMOCreateAccountInfo accountInfo, String serial)

After I've disabled TMG client, the connection was successful! It is strange, but works.

Hi,
What is TMG client? From the error I see, you could configure the Internet Proxy setting in RDM. It's in the application options: File->Options in the Advanced tab

David Hervieux

Sorry for delay.

TMG is a proxy client - Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway. Old name - ISA client.

avatar

Could you try to set the proxy in the File->Options Advanced tab page

David Hervieux

I've set up option - "custom", add proxy address (http://proxy), specify proxy port and check "Bypass proxy server for local addresses". Also I've specified credentials for proxy. Does not work. Tried to use "System default" options - no luck. Tried don't specify credentials - same result.

The only solution - disable TMG client

Thanks.

How does it configured in IE?
