Hello Thomas,

We have the setting "Check in (force)" in ADMINISTRATION -> Data Source Permissions -> Miscellaneous which allows you to select who can check in an entry not belonging to them.

I was wondering if this is what you wanted or is it something else?

There seems to be an issue with the automatic check in when using external mode. I will look into the problem and keep you updated on the progress.

Hello Perry,

Would it be possible to tell us which type of entry type you are assigning the automatic check out mode to ?

Also could you tell us if you are opening it in embedded mode or external mode ?

Hello,

The beta of RDM 14 will have a Mateso Password Safe credential entry type.

Here are the requirements to use this entry :

  • Mateso Password Safe Enterprise Plus Edition
  • The web services must be installed on your Mateso Password Safe server

The following image is what the entry will look like :

MatesoEntry

The next image shows what you will see when prompting the password list. The types of passwords we have decided to accept coming from the Mateso Password Safe's format are all shown in the list. If there are other types of passwords you deem important for your credential entries, please do let us know so that we can add them to our selection.

Hello Steve,

This policy should work with any version of RDM above 13.5.

The beta of RDM 14 should be out in a few days and will also support this policy.

2 yrs V13.5.6 - credential shortcut bug

Hello Rob,

This feature will be available starting from the beta of RDM 14.

A "View" button will be available for most of the document types. The Video, Image, RDD, Certificate, Phonebook, HTML, HTML Editor, Email,Text and Text (RTF) document types were considered to not need a "View" button and therefor do not have one .

If it turns out that you do need the "View" button on some of the above mentioned document types just let me know and I will add it to them.

Hello Ricardo,

The only way we could achieve what you want with how the shortcuts are working is to save the path of the credential shortcut which you have selected.

For example, if you have the following choices :

"CredentialFolder\B\CredentialShortcut"
"CredentialFolder\C\CredentialShortcut"

If you select the shortcut in the folder "C", then we would save the path "CredentialFolder\C\CredentialShortcut". When you open your properties, we would then be able to show the same path again.

However, the big issue with this is how inconsistent it is. If someone decides to change the name of the folder "CredentialFolder", the folder "C" or of the credential itself, then the path will be faulty and the behavior will go back to how it is currently working.

Please do let me know if you would like this change to be applied even if it would break every time someone changes the name of the folders above the credential shortcut or of the credential's name itself.

This does make sense. I will bump up the priority on our TODO list and see if we can get it done before RDM 14 comes out. If there is no time to finish it before RDM 14, we should still be able to get it done in one of the following betas that will come out shortly after.

Hello Rob,

Would it be possible to let us know what types of documents you are using? If I am not mistaken the current version 13.6.7.0 should open most documents in read-only by default when it is checked out by another user.

If this behavior works for your types of documents, then we could either leave it as is or change the text from "Open session" to "View document" when a document is checked out by another user so as to avoid any confusion.

Hello Ricardo,

The change we made is as follows :

  • If your entry is in the folder "A" and your credential shortcut is in the folder "A" : When opening the properties it will show the credential shortcut in folder "A"
  • If your entry is in the folder "A" and your credential shortcut is in the folder "B" : The entry will show the first shortcut (or the original credential connection) which it can find in the credential list. This is what was done by default in all cases before.

If this doesn't help, we can keep looking for other possibilities. However, there is no perfect solution as a shortcut is not an entry of it's own. It is simply the original entry shown in multiple locations.

Hello Jerry,

I just wanted to confirm that what you wanted to do was to enforce the settings shown inside the following image

If so, did you want to enforce a specific one or did you want all 4 of them to be enforced?

Hello Nico,

This issue should be fixed starting from the beta of RDM 14.

If the option "Force default template" is checked, the following behaviors will be applied :

1. When opening the password generator from Tools -> Password Generator, the password template will be selected by default and the user will be able to change to other templates if necessary

2. When opening the password generator from the properties of an entry, the password template will be selected by default and the drop-down menu will be disabled to make it impossible for the user to change to another password template.

Hello Rob,

When you select the "Manual" check out mode it makes editing or opening an entry require a check out. This will disable the batch edit as a result.

If you want to keep the check out feature active while removing the obligation to check out your entries to edit or open them, you will need to change the check out mode to "Optional".

We have added the "Forced check in time" to our TODO list and will keep you updated on the progress.
