This worked, however i assume that i would lose any favorites or customizations i had by doing this? Seems a bit too drastic.

It was the "log on as batch" GPO as you eluded to. My default gpo was set to administrators and backup operators, so I added my domain account to the backup operators group. This did not work. If I explicitly put the domain account in the "log on as batch" gpo, then it worked. The account I had initially set up was not in the GPO explicitly nor had group membership in administrators or backup operators, so I still don't know why it stopped working.

"the data filed contains the error" from the event log entry above is 80070569, which is
0x80070569: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.

I've tried all the fixes I could find, log on as batch, impersonate after authentication, etc with no luck. I also created new domain accounts to try. In your documentation for setting up integrated security, there's no mention of these settings. When I initially set it up according to the directions it was successful. not sure if something changed with our group policy, but since there's no requirements in your instructions related to the domain account, I don't know where exactly to look.

Pretty sure it's IIS.

1) change pool identify to LocalService, it works (in sql management studio the LocalService account is mapped to dvls\dbo schema)
2) I ran sql management studio as the service account, it authenticates and I can access the database.

DPS version 6.1.3.0

Try to connect from RDM, error is "server unavailable". Look on DPS server, IIS Manager. dvls application pool is stopped. Start application pool, refresh RDM. pool shows stopped again.

Event log shows these errors:

The identity of application pool dvls is invalid. The user name or password that is specified for the identity may be incorrect, or the user may not have batch logon rights. If the identity is not corrected, the application pool will be disabled when the application pool receives its first request. If batch logon rights are causing the problem, the identity in the IIS configuration store must be changed after rights have been granted before Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) can retry the logon. If the identity remains invalid after the first request for the application pool is processed, the application pool will be disabled. The data field contains the error number.

Application pool dvls has been disabled. Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) did not create a worker process to serve the application pool because the application pool identity is invalid.

Application pool dvls has been disabled. Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) encountered a failure when it started a worker process to serve the application pool.

I checked the domain account I use for the app pool, password is set to never expire. I changed it anyways.

I set up the DPS server to use integrated securtity (https://helpserver.devolutions.net/index.html?configure_integratedsecurity.htm), and has been working since installation.

i have the same red X when the "credential list" dialog box is displayed. deleting the .lyt files did not fix this one. A different file perhaps?

where in the UI do i put the /user $TOOL_DOMAIN$\$TOOL_USERNAME$ /password $TOOL_PASSWORD$ line?
should I be using a command line entry, or a hyper-v console entry?
In the hyper-v console entry, i don't see a place to put the options line.

That was the information I needed. I got the script to work:

$clustername = "failover5"
$vmresource = "Virtual Machine " + $RDM.Connection.HyperV.machinename
$node = ((get-clusterresource -cluster $clustername -name $vmresource).ownernode).name
$RDM.Connection.HyperV.Host = $node;
$RDM.Save();

This runs the hyper-v console correctly.

However, I need to pass a username and password as arguments to the vmconnect.exe command. There is no place for that in the UI that I can see.
Suggestions on how to do that?

the only way this will work is if in my powershell script "before connect" i determine the hyper-v host to connect to. I can get that information. how do i pass that information to the RDM connection so it uses this host?

I found that, what i don't know is what are the variables I can manipulate in the script. For example, I need retrieve the vm name from the settings and set the host name in the settings after i figure out which host i want to connect to. I assume there's some variable with all of the connection information in it?

When I attempt to do a file->refresh after putting my laptop to sleep, RDM shows an unexpected exception:

This may be related to the windows authentication issues you've been dealing with, since my actual domain is pao2k\jbyrkit (jbyrkit@pao2k.co.pinellas.fl.us), but because we participate in office365 under another tenant, we use an alternate UPN...jbyrkit@pao.pinellas.gov.

I have to exit RDM and then re-run it to get things to work again.
RDM version 14.0.6.0
DPS version 6.0.2.0 (maybe 6.0.1.0), see attached screen shot. it says both 6.0.2.0 and 6.0.1.0 and keeps wanting to upgrade to 6.0.2.0 which i do.

ah. i had the same idea that you might just be asking if running a script before the connect. Intially I looked for a way to run a script before the connect, but did not find anything. I think running a script before the connection would be perfect.

vmconnect is used for a hyper-v virtual machine in a failover cluster, however the host can be any of the cluster members. In RDM you need to specify the hypervisor host for a hyper-v console connection.

The following lines of powershell can determine which host a vm is running on. Is there any way to have this run first and then kick off the vmconnect command?

$prc_vm = "MyVirtualMachine"
$clustername = "FailoverClusterName"
$vmresource = "Virtual Machine " + $prc_vm
$node = ((get-clusterresource -cluster $clustername -name $vmresource).ownernode).name

"$prc_vm is running on $node"
