hi!
it would be great if there was an option to disable data source editing (well, "adding" to be specific).

we would like to provide a data source where the sessions have to be stored and want to prevent the creation of local data sources.

it's possible to add a description or URL to an entry.

the URL seems to be parsed with IE. An option to choose which render engine should parse that content would be nice.

hi,
yes the data source is configured as in the screenshot i posted.

I just verified this, by creating a new rdi-package manually and requesting a new setup file.

With the first start after setup I am prompted with

gs01455

And looking in the data source the field "Username" is empty.

The option "Always ask password" is checked and also the Name and Host is set correct.

UPDATE: yes the data source is configured with the variable and the option "Always ask password" is checked.

I've setup an RDM installation to create an installer file from.

I also adjusted the appearance what I want the default/standard to be after installation:

gs01448

unfortunately this is not included in the installer.

Please add an option to also include/copy the .lyt to the installer.

thanks for checking it with your engineering department!

I was not seeing the option to include the current settings so I was expecting it not to be present. my bad!

I now double-checked and nearly all settings are present in the installer package.

the one option that is not copied is the variable "%username%" in the data source upset

hi!
I'd love to see an option to add the current "RemoteDesktopManager.cfg" to the setup (to be then deployed to the RDM install dir).

Hi!
when looking at the user list there are many with the option "Has Specific Settings".

gs01325

What does this mean?
Has the user changed settings in the RDM application?

Can this be reset via PowerShell/Administration?

hi Erica,
virtual folders there were ...

The option to allow virtual folders was not set, but the database was just recently upgraded (from 11.0.5.0).

I found your other post (https://forum.devolutions.net/topic28811-convert-virtual-folders-to-physical-folders.aspx) and ran that script.

Now that there are no more virtual folders the cmdlet works as expected.

Thanks again for your help!

Maybe you could create an internal ticket to convert virtual folders automatically when the database is updated with future versions of RDM.

8 mths Set-RDMSession : Connection has invalid group specified (13.6.2.0)

I've found a workaround:

$session=New-RDMSession -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured'
Set-RDMSession $session
Update-RDMUI
Set-RDMSessionProperty -ID $session.ID -Property 'Group' -Value 'ASDF\QWER\jkl\UIOP'

This works for now, but please let me know if this will be possible with future versions of RDM like:

New-RDMSession -Group 'ASDF\QWER\jkl\UIOP' -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured' -SetSession

hi!
I just had the very same error using RDM 14.1.3.0

works:
New-RDMSession -Group 'ASDF' -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured' | Set-RDMSession

also works:
New-RDMSession -Group 'ASDF\QWER' -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured' | Set-RDMSession

does not work:
New-RDMSession -Group 'ASDF\QWER\jkl' -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured' | Set-RDMSession
New-RDMSession -Group 'ASDF\QWER\jkl\UIOP' -Name 'example.org' -Type 'RDPConfigured' | Set-RDMSession

how can I work around this issue?

I want to create sessions in 'ASDF\QWER\jkl' and 'ASDF\QWER\jkl\UIOP'

8 mths link "warn if already open" between two sessions
gpunktschmitz
gpunktschmitzExpert user
Posts: 417

hi!
due to access rights limitations we need to share one session with an external worker. this session entry uses RDP with the same user "remoteclient". we internally use the option "warn if already open". if we now duplicate the session to make it available to the external worker we can no longer make use of the feature with these two session entries.

it would be great if the feature could be either linked between multiple session entries.

After creating a cloud account and not touching the default setting for the newsletter subscription (which is: "No") emails for confirming the account email and also the newsletter subscription are sent.

Thus the default value for the newsletter subscription is not respected.

Tested with version 14.1.1.0

hi Erica,

thanks! it works ... but only if the machine is reachable/online.

If the machine does not exist or is shutdown I get an error and the script is not executed at all.

RDM+not+existin+machine
The goal is to suppress this check and run the script/try to connect to the host.

I could not find an option to disable this behaviour nor could I find an option why RDM behaves like this.
RDM+settings+online+check
Please let me know how this can be achieved.

hi!
I want to start a powershell script before the session starts and wait for it before launching the RDP session.

what are the prerequisites for this to work? must the execution policy be changed/different from the Windows standard?

is it possible at all to not start an RDP session if a script returns $false?

hi Hubert,
that would help for now, but with the next release (version 6.4?) you will have to update it again.

It would be nice, if it was possible to specifiy the complete path and not only the "path to where the .exe-file is".
Or if RDM would search for the wildcard "vmconnect*.exe" or "vmconnect???.exe" (just like "Net-SNMP").

So for a quick fix please add "vmconnect6.2.exe" and "vmconnect6.3.exe" and update the default path to the "C:\Program Files\Hyper-V\6.3".

Please keep me updated when this fix is available both in beta and stable releases.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!
the vmconnect.exe has been renamed to vmconnect6.2.exe, vmconnect6.3.exe, etc.

could you please apply a regex so that the latest version (folder) is automatically found and used?

Thanks in advance!
