Some entries not passing inherited credentials

Some entries not passing inherited credentials

avatar

I have noticed this issue a few times, but I am actively having this issue now. I have created a folder and set default credentials that objects in that folder should use. I then create an RDP connection, say RDP-1, and configure it to use inherited credentials. This works fine. Now, I make a copy of RDP-1 and modify just the name and Computer name to say, RDP-2. When opening RDP-2, I am presented a server side login page with the inherited username filled in, but the password blank. Of course, I have double checked that the value of Credentials of Inherited has not changed.

In this particular instances, I have tried deleting RDP-2 and recreating it. I have also tried explicitly choosing the credential (as opposed to inheriting it). In all cases, I have to type in my password manually on the RDP session to get in.

Thanks,
Andrew

Just to verify if it's related to the specific entry. If you enter the credentials directly in RDP-2 without the inherited, does it work?

Even explicitly typing in the credentials (just for that one entry) results in the same (being prompted at the RDP connection for the password). By the way, I am using RDM 9.05

This makes me think there is an issue with the underlying machine itself, but if I launch MSTSC.exe manually and fill in the same credentials, I get right through.

It was already checked. I also tried unchecking it, and trying whether the connection works (checked or unchecked) when "External" as opposed to "Embedded" was selected. All attempts resulted in the same issue.

no change other than the username is filled in as being domain\user now.

This is really strange. Could you try RDCMan with this specific server?

We use the same ActiveX

Interesting. It behaves the same as RDM ...
