AnyDesk sessions shall be closed and checked in when closing the Launcher app

Hi there,
as suggested from a support technican, I submit this feature request.

Current behavior
When a user starts an AnyDesk connection through Devolutions Launcher, the connection is correctly checked out.
However, when the user closes Devolutions Launcher afterwards:

  • the AnyDesk sessions that were launched through Launcher remain open;
  • the corresponding connection entries remain checked out;
  • no automatic check-in is performed.

This means that even after Launcher has been closed, the AnyDesk sessions continue running independently and the entries remain marked as being in use.

Desired behavior
Ideally, we would expect the following workflow:

  1. The user starts an AnyDesk connection through Launcher.
  2. Launcher checks out the corresponding connection entry.
  3. The user closes Devolutions Launcher.
  4. All AnyDesk sessions that were started through this Launcher instance are automatically closed.
  5. The corresponding connection entries are automatically checked back in.

Our goal is to ensure that closing Launcher leaves neither active AnyDesk sessions nor connection entries that remain checked out.

Thank you.

Best
Florian

Hello,

We've investigated your case.

AnyDesk sessions are launched externally, which means AnyDesk runs in its own window, outside Remote Desktop Manager. Because of limitations with applications running outside RDM, these sessions are not closed automatically when you close Remote Desktop Manager. We're looking into improving this.

In the meantime, the workaround is to close the session from within RDM:

  1. Select the AnyDesk entry.
  2. Click Close in the dashboard.

I've tested this, and it closes the AnyDesk instance. If your check-out mode is set to automatic, it also checks the entry back in.
