Hi,
I prefer to open RDP Sessions in undocked mode. However, when configure the Undocked mode to be the default in the settings I'm missing the tabs on the window. This makes it also impossible to group the connections in undocked mode.
Tested on version 2026.3.1.1
Best regards,
Christoph Fink
Hello Christoph,
I hope you are doing well.
To assist you further, we kindly ask you to provide a few screenshots illustrating the situation you are experiencing. If possible, we would also appreciate a short video demonstrating the behavior.
You can send me the video via private message.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Best regards,
Alexis Geller Peiro
Hello,
Sure, with this setting I'm starting the RDP session embedded:
After that, I can detach the window and the Tabs are shown, which allows me to drag in other Session Tabs as well:
When I open the session as undocked:
The window does open already detached but it doesn't show me tabs in that window:
So I cannot attach multiple Sessions in the same Window.
I hope this explains it better. In I'll have to make a video I'll send it via a private message to you.
Thank you for listening up. I can make a video if the screenshots don't explain it.
kind regards,
Christoph Fink

Hello Christoph,
Thank you for the screenshots, they explain the behavior very well, and I was able to reproduce it on RDM Linux 2026.3.1.1.
When the RDP Display option is set to Undocked, the session opens in its own window and that window does not show a tab bar. The window can still be docked into the main RDM window:
1. Open the session as usual with Display set to Undocked.
2. Drag the window by its title bar onto the tab bar of the main RDM window. It docks there as a tab.
I have attached a short video showing these steps.
Please let me know if this works for you.
Best regards,

Hello Alexis,
Yes, I can dock it to the main window and after undocking again i have the tab bar. But since I'm opening lots of sessions and prefer to use the main window mainly as opening connections I'd love to have the tab bar shown immediately so I don't have to dock and undock all the time.
Right now I'm using the embedded setting and then undock manually.
kind regards,
Christoph Fink
Hello Christoph,
Thank you for confirming, and for explaining your workflow.
At the moment, the RDP Display option set to Undocked opens the session in a window without a tab bar, and there is no setting to change that on RDM Linux. Until this is changed, using Display set to Embedded and undocking the session manually, as you are doing now, is the way to get a window with its tab bar.
We have reported this to our development team, and as soon as we have news we will let you know here.
Best regards,

Hi again,
Sounds good. Thanks you!
Also I'd like to thank you for keeping on improving the Linux version. It's refreshing to see continuous development for a platform many others just leave behind.
kind regards,
Christoph Fink
