Hello,
I’m trying to configure Devolutions Server so that standard users (non-admins) can only create new entries in vaults using predefined templates, and are not able to create entries from blank types.
To enforce this, I configured:
Administration > System Settings > General > Add Entry Mode = “Template list only”
I also created several templates under:
Administration > Entry Templates
However, when testing with a non-admin user, they are still able to create new entries by selecting any blank entry type. The template-only restriction does not seem to be enforced.
Devolutions Server version: 2026.1.16.0 (latest available)
Has anyone encountered this behavior or knows if I might be missing an additional setting or permission?
Hello,
This is indeed not the expected behavior. I assume this may be a bug, and I will forward it to the team for further investigation.

Min
Hello @Min Destens,
Can you share some information from the team? I have a blocked implementation and would appreciate any estimated delivery time.
Best Regards,
Branislav
Hello Branislav,
I apologize for not responding earlier! Indeed, the team confirmed my thoughts and identified it as a bug.
As far as I know, they are already investigating this topic.
Out of curiosity, may I ask why this topic is blocking your implementation? Are you concerned that users might use it to bypass your preconfigured templates?

Min
Hello @Min Destens,
I would like to configure templates with predefined permissions so that users can create entries with the correct access rights across the vault. This setup would also allow me to build a logical folder structure for entries while avoiding reliance on simple permission inheritance.
Best Regards,
Branislav
