Trying to get my head around the web/vscode setting

Hi.

After upgrading to PSU 5 we see the toggle for web/vscode in the top of the web gui and I don’t think it really does what it sounds like it would do.

Setting it to “Web” makes editing from web gui work fine and also edits made in the local ps1 files on the server are overwritten by edits from web gui.

Setting it to “VS Code” prohibits editing from web gui and edits made in the local ps1 files are immediately reflected in the web gui.

So far, so good. What makes it confusing is when we start editing files from the actual VS Code, via the official Powershell Universal VSC extension. Those edits seem to work fine no matter what the setting of the toggle is, and immediately overwrites any edits from other places. Is this the intended behaviour?

I think it’s maybe only the name (and explanation text) of the toggle that is the problem. Shouldn’t it simply be a toggle between web and “local file editing” or something like that instead? It really seems to have nothing with VS Code to do?

/Daniel
