Error when trying to use TransferList

I am trying to add a basic transfer list to my dashboard from within a form and I am getting this error.

Error rendering component (mu-transfer-list)
TypeError: e.item.filter is not a function

I’ve never used a transfer list before, so I don’t have any experience working with them. I was going off the example in the documentation.
