i keep getting RDM crash fairly frequently. this occurs on the current 2026.1.1.1, and the previous version i was using (i think 2025.3.2.3).
It doesnt occur every time, but it does seem more frequent if i move network location (eg from onsite office to offsite with our VPN)
This occurance following was being onsite, upgrading from my previous version to the latest current and connecting to an RDP server. I see that redirected drive was the last logged entry, so I'll try without that to see if it makes any difference.
I'm using the .deb version since flatpak does not work with our VPN tunnel type.

Hello,
If there is no sensitive or important information contained within it, could you please provide the core dump generated from the crash?
This will help us investigate the segmentation fault in more detail and identify the root cause.
Thank you,
Carl Marien
Since i wasnt sure if it contained sensitive info, i've sent a DM to you Carl. forum-52610_rdp-coredump.log
This one seems to have occured after being connected to some RDP servers, and after a period of inactivity the laptop going into sleep.
Obviously this would make the network drop, and also VPN disconnect (OS user session, not a VPN established within RDM).
This is one of a few crash reasons so i'll report different ones as i experience them.
Hope this is useful.
Hello,
Thank you for sending the core dump.
The crash occurs when the system resumes from sleep. When the laptop woke up, RDM attempted to redraw the RDP session window while the connection was already being torn down due to the network and VPN dropping, which caused the segmentation fault.
i have open a investigation on our end to recreate the issue.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
thankyou for investigating.
I've not had any more crashes yet, and I've resumed from sleep a few times without issues, so it's not 100% consistent.
just had another crash. coredump sent over in DM.
this time i've been actively using a RDP connection in RDM where it suddenly crashed for no obvious reason. Possibly clipboard related but i've been heavily using the clipboard to an RDP session a few hours ago without problem. Hopefully the coredump shows something useful...
Hello,
Thank you for sending over the new core dump.
This crash is a separate issue from the previous sleep/resume one. The stack trace shows that RDM's clipboard handling triggered a heap corruption error in glibc's memory allocator during a clipboard set operation, which caused the abort.
To make sure both issues are tracked and followed up on properly, I have opened a dedicated forum post for this specific crash:
https://forum.devolutions.net/topics/52693/rdm-linux--crash-during-clipboard-operation
Please continue the follow-up there.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
