Duplicate Entry doesn't duplicate subentry

avatar

Hi There,

When duplicating an entry, it asks if we'd like to duplicate sub entries. But clicking Yes just duplicate the entry I was on when asking for duplicating, no sub entries get created.

Thank you very much

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this.

I tried to reproduce the behavior on my side, but I wasn’t able to recreate the issue when I choose to duplicate sub-entries, they duplicate as expected.

To help us investigate, could you please confirm:

  1. The exact Remote Desktop Manager version you’re using
  2. The data source type where the entry is stored (e.g., XML, SQLite, SQL Server, Devolutions Server/DVLS, Devolutions Hub, etc.).

Once I have that, I can dig further and advise next steps.

Hi Carl,

I'm using version 2025.3.1.1 with a devolutions server.

To reproduce the behavior, create an entry type website or rdp, it has to be en entry "doing connections", not a folder.
Add a subentry type "username & password".
Duplicate the website or rdp entry, it will ask if you like to duplicate subentries as well. Say yes.
The subentries aren't duplicated.

With a folder it works.

An other behavior, I think related to that Problem, is that you cannot drag/drop the subentries under another connection or folder.

Hello,

Thanks for the detailed steps.

I was able to reproduce the issue. When duplicating a connection entry and choosing to duplicate sub-entries, the sub-entries are indeed not duplicated. As you noted, this works correctly with folders.

I’ve created an internal bug report for this. The behavior you mentioned about not being able to drag/drop sub-entries under another connection or folder does appear to be related and likely part of the same underlying issue.

Thanks for reporting this I’ll keep you posted on updates.

Hi Carl,

Thank you very much.

Hi Carl,

Maybe some more details to this, I think it's all related: it's not only duplication who doesn't work but also creating a credential entry under another credential entry.

Sub Folders seems not to have this limitation, after 5 sub-folders I still can create further ones.

Hello Guillaume,

We fixed the issue where duplicating an entry with a sub-entry wouldn't duplicate the sub-entry. All changes will be effective in the next release (2026.1).

Hello Gabriel,

Thank you very much !

I'm having issues creating and duplicating subentries as well. I can't go below 3 levels of subentries. Is there a maximum depth / levels for subentries?

avatar

Hello,

In Remote Desktop Manager, sub-entries are generally intended to be a single layer deep (i.e., an entry can have sub-entries, but sub-entries aren’t meant to be nested multiple levels). So if you’re hitting a limit around ~3 levels, that’s not expected behavior and could be either:

  • a bug in how deeper nesting is being handled, or
  • a feature gap / enhancement request if deeper sub-entry hierarchies aren’t officially supported yet.

To help us confirm what’s happening in your environment, could you send:

  1. A screenshot showing the entry tree with the sub-entry levels
  2. Step-by-step reproduction steps,

Best regards,

Hi Carl,

I can only confirm the behavior facing by spiral6. And your colleague Gabriel also already confirmed the problem.

The number of more then 3 sub-entries is only a problem in the Linux version. Not to display them, only the create and manipulate them.

I've showed the problem to one of your college as well, you can reproduce the problem like this:
This simple structure. Now duplicate John Doe, you'll be asked if you'd like to duplicate sub-entries. Confirm you want. And that's the result, the sub-entries are not duplicated.

What we also found out, this behavior is only for entries type "entries" and not "folders". If you say I'd like to duplicate the Group1 for example, everything works as intended.
