Assigned active user licenses

We are planning to improve license management by allowing license assignment directly from the Users page in the Administration section. This will make license assignments easier to manage and should also help with reporting needs in the future.

This improvement should be available soon, although we don’t have a precise timeline to share yet.

But will the license information also be available to be retrieved from the database?

We have built a Metabase reporting for management teams, so we are looking into leveraging that to create license usage/availability reports (among others - such as connections usage, last activity, inactive users etc...).

Currently, the licensing information in the database (like in the "Assigned" column of the dbo.UserSecurity table) is encrypted and cannot be accessed directly for reporting. At this time, there is no supported method to decrypt or access the assigned license data directly from the database.

However, with the planned improvements to license management where license assignments will be handled from the Users page in the Administration section, reporting capabilities are also expected to improve. Once available, this update should make it easier to extract and report on license assignments and related user activity, including integration with tools like Metabase.

While we aim to make more data accessible for custom reporting in the future, not all license-related information may become available immediately after these changes. If you need more detailed reporting right away, please let us know what specific data you require, and we can review if any alternative solutions or temporary workarounds are possible.

We will keep you updated as soon as the new features become available. In the meantime, please feel free to share any additional reporting requirements or questions you may have we’re here to help prioritize your needs.

We would need the following information information to be available for custom reporting:

How many licenses are available per license pack, and the expiry date of the license pack.
Which users currently have a license assigned

We were planning to create two new reports:
– A list of users showing which license is assigned to each of them.
– A list of all available license packs, along with the users assigned to each license.

Based on your needs, we can also include the expiration date of each license in the second report.
