Temporary Access: Need to re-request temporary access for items created during temporary access

avatar

Hello,

At the moment we have an open issue which was reported by multiple of our DVLS-users: After requesting temporary access for a folder and creating a sub-folder/item in that folder they need to re-request temporary access to afterwards modify the newly created item/folder.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Request and Approve Temporary Access for a Folder
  • Create a Sub-Entry/Folder
  • Try to Modify that newly created Sub-Entry/Folder

Expected Result:

  • Temporary Access Permission of the newly created Sub-Entry/Folder is inherited and editing works

Actual Result.

  • Editing does not work and a second Temporary Access Request for the freshly created Sub-Entry/Folder is needed to edit it

Is there a way to edit/create sub-entries to newly created items/folders during temporary access? Maybe through inheritance of temporary access permissions down to newly created items/folder inside the folder the temporary access was requested for?

Thank and Best Regards,
Sebastian

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out on this matter.

I tested the behavior on my side and was able to reproduce what you described.

Could you let me know if you're using a folder template? If so, please share any non-default settings you've configured in that template.

Additionally, you can apply the temporary access request at the root level, users are not required to request access directly at the root, as they can still request access at the folder level. This is because, by default, newly created folders inherit the temporary access settings from the root. I believe this is the behavior you're aiming for: I requested access to a folder, then created a subfolder beneath it and was able to access it without needing to submit a new request.

If you prefer not to configure temporary access at the root level, you can achieve the same behavior using a folder template. Set the temporary access setting in the template to Inherited, and it should work as intended.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
