Hello everyone
The need to allow access to the gateway server on the non-standard port 8181 is very inconvenient and, in those environments where non-standard ports are blocked from outgoing, makes it impossible to use the tool.
So the RFC is to be able to manage the tunneling of an RDP session only on the standard port 443.
Thanks
Hi,
You can configure Devolutions Gateway to use the ports you want, we just use TCP/8181 for RDP by default to avoid port conflicts with 443 which is normally used for HTTPS.
As for the web listener in Devolutions Gateway, it is easier to set up behind port 443 alongside other HTTPS/WSS traffic. However, the web listener is used by the RDP web client, not the RDP desktop clients in RDM which go through the TCP listener.
Is your request to make those port configurables, or to drop the requirement to have a TCP listener separate from the web listener? There would be performance penalties to forcing everything to go through a web listener, which is why we're using this approach.
