Hello.
We would like to request a template for SNMPv3 secrets.
The following fields:
Obviously, this should also be available in RDM.
Thank you.
Marcel
Hello Marcel,
Thank you for your request. If my understanding is correct, you would like a new entry type for SNMPv3 secrets, am I right? Would it be a credential entry or only for information? Do you have an idea of what you would like to do with that entry afterward?
Best regards,
François Dubois
Hello François.
Yes I would like to have it as a credential entry, so that the information can be secrets.
I would like to be able to copy the secrets easily, so a button for each secret could also be useful.
Best regards.
Marcel
Hello Marcel,
If my understanding is correct, it is only to keep that information securely, am I right? You don't plan to use that information elsewhere in the application. You will only use the copy button to put it on your clipboard. Is that what you need? Do you plan to use that entry type somewhere else than RDM ?
Best regards,
François Dubois
Hello François.
Yes that's correct, only copy.
For now we use a password list, but it's not so practical, because you have to open the entry to copy the values.
I just saw that the view is already improved with RDM 2025.2.
If there was a copy button next to the password, that would already be enough.
Like this for instance:
Obviously it would also be great to view the passwords and to copy the host, username and domain fields in the password list without editing the entry.
Best regards.
Marcel

Hello Marcel,
Thank you for your feedback. We will analyze your request, determine the best solution, and let you know once we have an update.
Best regards,
François Dubois
Hello Marcel,
A colleague told me that we already have a system in RDM that can do what you want. We have a tab Password list where it is possible to copy the host, the domain, the username, and the password. Could this work for you?
Best regards,
François Dubois

Hello François.
Oh, I didn't see the additional tab.
Yeah that could actually work.
But why not have copy buttons in the Overview tabs ?
Many times, I feel that some feature is not existing, but like here, it does, but it's not very obvious. It doesn't follow the standard pattern.
In my view, functionalities should be as consistent with the whole concept as possible, otherwise it gets confusing.
Thank you.
Marcel
Hello Marcel,
I agree with you; it should be available directly in the overview tab, but it is more difficult to improve based on how it is currently constructed. The good news is that we are moving the overview tab to Avalonia to eventually enable that kind of improvement. I'm taking note of this and will see how it fits into our priorities.
Best regards,
François Dubois
Hello François.
Ok thank you :-)
