RDM 2025.1.1.5 – 100% CPU for 30 min on Linux startup

avatar

We recently upgraded RDM to version 2025.1.1.5 for our Linux users (Ubuntu 24), and several of them have reported significant performance issues. Specifically, they experience extreme slowness and a CPU spike to 100% that lasts for about 30 minutes when launching RDM. After that period, the application starts functioning normally again.

Hello lukas,

Which datasource type are you using?

Does downgrading RDM to the previous version you were using improve the performance?

Could you please open RDM from your terminal using the command remotedesktopmanager /profiler? Then, wait until RDM is no longer slow. Once the performance returns to normal, please send us the following:

  • The output from the profiler window (which appears due to the /profiler argument)
  • The output from your terminal

We have implemented some internal performance fixes that may help resolve this issue. These fixes are scheduled to be released in about two weeks (version 2025.2 and later).

Hi Gabriel,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Please find attached the profiler window output and terminal logs as requested. Let me know if you need any additional information or if there's anything else I can assist with.

Best regards,
Lukas

Hello Lukas,

We released version 2025.2.0.8 of RDM Linux, which addresses a couple of performance issues. Could you please let us know if you're still experiencing any performance problems with this version?

Hi Gabriel

I don't know if Lukas has still performance issues, but the Linux user in my organisation are complaining of said performance issues in the 2025.2.0.8 and 2025.2.0.9 versions of RDM.

What information can I provide in order to further investigate the issue?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hello Nick,

A useful thing you can provide is the profiler output. To get it, you can open RDM from your terminal using the command remotedesktopmanager /profiler. Make sure to replicate the performance issue while the profiler window is active. Then, send us the following:

  • The output from the profiler window (which appears due to the /profiler argument)
  • The output from your terminal

Another thing that could help is the System Diagnostic (accessible via Help → System Diagnostic). You can copy it using the button at the bottom left and send the result to us.

A video of the problem can also be very helpful. Any additional info or patterns you can think of would be useful.
