My connection to data source is lost very often, even if I am working on an active RDP session. I have to reauthenticate to get RDM running again. I finally saw this message during a connection loss:

Hello. My name is Kelly. Thank you for posting your question. I will work with you to find some answers. Please confirm RDM is using DVLS for its data source.
Which version of RDM are you using?
Do the RDM application logs show any related entries? (RDM Help menu >Application logs)
Which version of DVLS is in play?
Do the DVLS data source logs show any related entries?
What type of network connection does RDM use to connect with its data source? Is this connection dependable and consistent?
Kind regards,
Kelly
I have verified with a few of my colleagues who also use Ubuntu desktops that this issue occurs. There appears to be no set time or particular function that triggers the need to reauthenticate to DVLS. It happens with a session is open or closed. I have even had it happen while I was actively using a remote computer via RDP.
I am currently tailing my syslog to see if that points to anything as I do not see anything in Devolutions logs.
Which version of RDM are you using?
-I am currently on version 2025.1.0.12
Do the RDM application logs show any related entries? (RDM Help menu >Application logs)
-No logs
Which version of DVLS is in play?
-2025.1.3.0, but also happened with pervious version.
Do the DVLS data source logs show any related entries?
-See below
What type of network connection does RDM use to connect with its data source? Is this connection dependable and consistent?
-This is a LAN connection via Ethernet.

Early indications from my testing shows this may be connected to use Microsoft Edge web browser. While using Firefox or Google Chrome, my connection to the data source has been much more stable today.

This is curious. Have the DPS_Main logs been enabled with the DVLS? If so, these may provide some indication around these connections. IF not, consider enabling the DPS-Main logs then grab then around the time the issue occurs.

I have not done that yet, but I will check on my settings and get it done.
It seems different browsers have not solved this as I originally thought. This seems more related to PAM than just general connectivity. The more I use my privileged account, the more I am prompted to sign into the data source again.
Yup, seems PAM related. Even just waiting a few minutes and refreshing the PAM vault causes re-authentication to the data source.
Hello. Apologies for the delayed response.
So no particular action triggers this re-authentication? Just regular activity around PAM and you are presented with the authentication prompt. And this is with RDM for Linux on Ubuntu desktop with DVLS data source. Correct?
Have you glanced at the DPS_main logs to see if there are related entries for the time around a re-authentication?
Kind regards,
Kelly
Yesterday I was being reauthenticated even as I was logging off of RDP sessions.
This is with RDM for Ubuntu with DVLS as a data source.
What should I do with the log? I do not really want to post it here as it has usernames and email addresses.
I can open a case for you. You can send it to support, if you are agreeable?
Kind regards,
Kelly
Perfect! I generated some fresh logs this morning at 7:10am local time when I logged off the PAM server and was prompted to reauthenticate.
The case has been generated. We sent you a message from the new case.
Kind regards,
Kelly
Log sent, thank you!
