Hello,
i have some questions about the backup manager, or maybe a feature request :
This is a archive of the web root folder. Only thing that changes between updates is the App_Data sub folder, and maybe the App.config.
So every backup is about 300MB, while less than 1MB is changed...
Is there a way to separate that ?
Take a full backup after an Update, and do a backup of the modified files on the repeated backup ?
Or have different schedules for database and web ?
An other thing i am struggling with right now is the folders that are being used.
The ZIP file is created in c:\windows\temp, and then moved to the destination folder.
This way the file inherits the permissions of the temp folder, with is the expected NTFS behavior.
But i want to copy the files to an other system, and use an account with limited permissions for that job, who can not access the web backups.
Easiest would be to copy the archive from temp to destination, and then delete in temp
Windows warns me to change permission on c:\windows\temp, so is there a way to use a different temp folder for web backup?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
My name is William and I'm here to assist you in any way I can.
For the first part, this would be more of a feature request since we don't currently have the ability to change it from the Devolutions Server. You can copy your text on a new topic here: https://forum.devolutions.net/forums/34/devolutions-server--feature-request
This will allow other users to show their interest in your idea and our development team are following the feature request closely.
For the second part, it is not possible to change the default temp folder where the backup is created before being moved to the destination folder. I was able to test this and can confirm that the permission are not changed when the zip file is placed under the destination folder. I found that only the administrators and the identity that moved the file (either the Scheduler service or the Web app identity) were listed in the permissions. I would then suggest maybe using the Identity used to create the backup to also move the file to the other server. It is also possible to set a network path in the backup destination folder if you want this to be done directly.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Best regards,
