Why is importing not an option on iOS/mobile devices?

This seems like a Tier 1 feature, and I'm honestly surprised its completely missing.

Why can't I export my vault (local or online) in .rdm or .json format and import that into RDM running on a mobile device (Android or iOS). I read the other post about no support for RDM on iOS, but it seems like JSON would be a supportable format.

Sadly, it isn't. This presents a very difficult blocker when trying to use RDM on a plane, where "internet" access may not be available, but network access is, or simply updating/editing existing entries in the vault, but not connecting to those entries.

You quite literally can't even load the vault, cached or otherwise, and you can't export the online vault and import it into a local vault, because this isn't supported on mobile devices running RDM.

So what IS the solution here? How can I cache/back up/export-import my online vault into a local vault, for resiliency when I'm not actively connected to the Internet?

Hello,

Thank you for being patient. Could you kindly provide us with the following information:

  • A screenshot of your option when using the three dots on an entry you would like to export. (Ensure to select "More options" at the bottom)

  • A screenshot of your option when using the three dots on a Vault that you would like to export.

  • Your current RDM version.

  • The data source you are utilizing.

  • Any additional information and screenshots you believe might be relevant.

Once we have this information, we will be better equipped to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Best regards,

Maxim Robert
