Create a dynamic inventory for Ansible

It would be a nice feature to retrieve server names with coresponding user/password/ssh keys as dynamic inventory,

so that I can use such a dynamic inventory (dvls-inventory) and refer to a servername, the dynamic inventory would know where to connect to (servername, port) and which credentials to use (ssh key, or user/pass).

The configuration of the dynamic inventory could consist of

  • api key
  • server address

Hi Stefan,

First of all, thank you for the feedback about our Ansible integration with Devolutions Server. We also saw the pull request you opened in the project and made sure to merge it (thank you and good catch for pointing out the absence of error management).

As for your feature request, we will look into it and see what we can do about it. We will make sure to update you in this thread about it as soon as we have more information. If you want to add any specific use-case, I invite you to do so as it will help us prioritize (in the form of As a user, I'd like to do xyz and for that it'd be nice to have abc...). It'd be very appreciated.

Have a nice weekend!

Thank you for your suggestion! We truly appreciate your input. While the dynamic inventory idea is interesting, this module is specifically designed to consume DVLS rather than configure it. Listing available DVLS servers within a network falls outside the intended scope of this collection.

That said, we’re always open to feedback and ideas for future development. If you have additional thoughts, please don’t hesitate to share!
