DVLS daily re-authenticate

DVLS daily re-authenticate

avatar

Dear Devolutions team,

By default, we have to authenticate our DVLS data source daily in RDM (AD authentication). We found this a bit excessive so I wanted to change it to a weekly basis, basically every Monday morning. Now I tried changing this behaviour by setting the token lifetime to 6 days and then stopping/starting the server. However we are still required to authenticate daily, it seems that the token lifetime isn't doing much.

I also read on the forums here to disable 'Force token public IP validation' however this was already disabled by default.

DVLS v2024.2.10.0
RDM v2024.2.20.0

Any ideas/suggestions?

Kind regards,
Mathieu

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us about this matter!

My name is William and your post has been assigned to me.

The token lifetime is only responsible for the web token. The option responsible for logging of the RDM Data Source is under Administration > System Settings > RDM and Companion tools > RDM. From there, you can decide when the user should be logged off of RDM.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Hi William,

I just had a look however everything is checked out in that menu.

I'm not really sure what the exact trigger is because a shutdown/reboot of the laptop doesn't trigger it.
However usually when coming in the office and opening RDM for the first time, we are required to authenticate again.

Hello,

The settings responsible for the authentication looks good to me.

Have you tried using the Domain SSO? Instead of prompting you in the web interface, it should log you in automatically.

Also, do you have MFA enabled on your users?

SSO is unfortunately not an option as we are using different admin accounts for RDM access. MFA is currently not enabled yet but that is the goal in the future, I would just first like to fix the daily authentication thing.

Weirdly enough, not all users are affected. I just reinstalled my laptop this Monday, added the DVLS data source and haven't had to authenticate since the initial login. However I have a colleague who just informed me that he even has to reauthenticate when simply closing and reopening RDM on his laptop.

Is there perhaps an RDM client setting which could trigger this? Or is there perhaps a way to troubleshoot/debug why the reauthentication is being triggered?

Hello,

Unfortunately, there shouldn't be any RDM settings, since we've tried resetting your RDM configuration and the issue was still there.

In that case, we would need to retrieve the DPS_Main.log files right when your user is disconnected and reconnected. It is important to retrieve these files as soon as possible since they contain a lot of logs and the files are pretty small. Also, it is important to note the time when you are disconnected so that we can find the relevant logs.

Please send those files to service@devolutions.net and include the link to this forum thread. The case will be assigned to me.

Best regards,
