RDM on Mint - Host Steals Alt-Tab after Cliking inside fullscreen RDP Session

avatar

Im using LInux Mint and i have installed RDM using flatpak. All works great but i have an issue where on full screen mode connection to a windows machine, when i click anywhere in the remote session and then do an alt-tab or press the super key, the focus is given to the host computer. Note that the setting "Apply windows key combinations" is set to remote computer always.

Now if i do a mouse click and i hit the super key twice then alt-tab ficus is returned to the remote computer.

My goal is to find a way or setting that prevents the super key or alt-tab from being captured by the host machine if i do not explicitly click outside the remote session's screen area.

Thank you for the help!

Hello amyrotos,

If I understand correctly, the issue is that the Host/Remote computer (Windows) is taking your Alt-Tab (and super key) combination and you want your Client/Local computer (Linux) to always get those combinations even if the Host/Remote computer (Windows) is focused. If that is the case, setting the "Apply Windows key combinations" to "On the local computer" should resolve this issue.

If I'm wrong or it doesn't solve your issue, can you please tell me if your session is set to Undocked or External when it is fullscreen?

Hello again, it seems that i did not explain well sorry about that. So my session is full screen and undocked. What i want to achieve is that the alt-tab and super key always to be captured by the remote session. So the goal is when Im using RDP i want to be able to use alt-tab to switch to a different open application within my Windows session. This currently works but not fully. The issue is that when ever i make a mouse click then my Linux Mint captures the alt-tab (once) and then the remote RDP session captures all subsequent alt-tab super key presses, that is until i click again. Please note that the clicks I'm referring to are mouse click that i do inside the remote session i.e., on my remote windows machine.

This is problematic because when ever i want to switch an application using alt-tab inside my remote machine i have to press alt-tab once so the focus comes back to RDP and then press alt-tab again to switch to the application i want within the windows remote session.

Thank you.

Hello amyrotos,

This issue has been fixed in the new version of RDM Linux (2024.2.0.10). However, there was a problem with the release of the Flatpak version. The only thing we can do is wait for them to fix it on their side. In the meantime, you can download the .deb version from our website (https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/home/download/) if you prefer.
