Hi,
is there a way to check, if a vault has a password set?
I know, if I run Get-RDMRootSession I am being asked for a password, if one is set.
Problem here is, that I am then forced to enter a password, so I cannot check it in an automation.
If that is possible, is also possible to set one?
Thank you.
Hello Stefan,
I would like to inquire about the version of RDM you are using and the type of data sources currently in use.
In the vault settings, there is a security tab where you can configure a master password for added protection.
It's important to note that this configuration may vary for each data source.

Hi Patrick,
but what does this answer has to do with my question?
I thought as I posted the question in the PowerShell support forum, it would be obvious, that I need to know how to find out via PowerShell.
Thank you.
Hello Stephan,
After a small investigation, this could be possible with Devolutions Server.
But you will need to connect through the application identity.
Could you tell me which type of data source you are using?
Best regards,
Patrick Ouimet
Hi Patrick,
thank you for your answer.
We use a Devolutions Server, so it would really nice, if you could point me to the correct direction.
Thank you.
Hello Stefan,
This is the article on the application identities.
https://docs.devolutions.net/server/web-interface/administration/security-management/applications/
If you run this script, you will get a list of all your vault names and the repository settings value.
In that value, we are looking for any vault with MasterPasswordHash configured.
$AppSecret = "<The AppSecret>"
$AppKey = "<The AppKey>"
$DVLSURI = "<Your URL>"
[securestring]$secAppSecret = ConvertTo-SecureString $AppSecret -AsPlainText -Force
[pscredential]$credObject = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential ($AppKey, $secAppSecret)
$DSSession = New-DSSession -BaseUri $DVLSURI -AsApplication -Credential $credObject
$DSSession
$vaults = Get-DSVault -All
$data = $vaults.Body.Data
for ($i = 0; $i -lt $data.Length; $i++){
Write-Host "This vault name is: " $data[$i].DisplayName
Write-Host "This is the vault security: " $data[$i].RepositorySettingsValue
Write-Host "-------------------------------------"
}
Best regards,
