Authentication to Azure SQL from DVLS

Hello,

We have hybrid environment where our on-prem AD is replicate to EntraID. So, We'd like to move our DVLS infrastructure to Cloud (Azure). But, we aren't able to find a way how to configure access from Devolution Server to Azure SQL database with modern authentication methods. Using internal SQL server accounts is no-go for us. We'd like to use modern type of authentication. So, also, we'd like to avoid to use kbt.

As far as I know, Remote Desktop Manager works with Azure SQL Database with EntraID integrated authentication option. But we haven't found a similar option in Devolution Server. Do you think that is possible to add EntraID Integrated authentication method or authentication with Manage Identity?

Thank you for your answer.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your request. You're right, we don't have a similar option in Devolutions Server for now. I would be curious to know why using internal SQL server accounts is no-go for you? Just to be sure that we are on the same page, when you use Devolutions Server, users don't have direct access to the SQL Server like they have with Remote Desktop Manager connected directly to the SQL Server. When you use Devolutions Server, RDM access the server to get information and never access directly the database.

But at the same time, it is true that we could explore to support new authentication with Azure SQL Server, but I don't have an ETA for that. I'm taking note of your feedback and will see if we could prioritize a such improvement.

Best regards,
