Add Ability to manually change Password in PAM

Hello,

would it be possible to add to ability to manuall change the password of a PAM Account and have PAM change it in the provider?
For example:
I have an Active Directory Account that is managed via PAM. Now I want to change the password.
I enter it in PAM and the Devolutions Server contacts the Active Directory and overwrites the password of this account with the new password.

I hope I was able to describe the functionality I need.

Hello Stephan,

Thank you for reaching us. I understand what you want, but my question is: What is your need and why you would like to do that ? If you accept to change it manually and push it to the provider, it means that somebody knows the password and could access the privileged account without requesting the password in your PAM. It would be against the PAM philosophy I think. So before doing a such feature, I would like to understand more your need.

Hello,

our need is basicly to be able to manually set passwords that are easier to type or spell. It can be quite time consuming to type a 16 letter password with a lot of special characters when you are not able to use copy & paste. An example for this would be a vmware console connection or if you have to share the password over the phone.

Hello Stephan,

I understand what you try to achieve. Could it be an option to set a password template generating password that can be spell easily ? You can specify a password template on a PAM account here

The other option that I could see would be to send that password throught our new service Devolutions Send. It allows you to send a secure message to somebody outside your organisation via an email or a shareable link. Devolutions Send is also integrated into Devolutions Server and you can send it directly from RDM and/or web interface.

Is it something that could help you in your work ?
