Not able to use Vault Private Key type

Not able to use Vault Private Key type

avatar

Hi there,

I'm using RDM on a Manjaro and, I don't know why, on local (and also when configuring jump host) I can use Vault as a credential origin for my SSH connections, but, when configuring Private Key on the host tab, I don't have this option, just "data" or "Find by Name" (User vault)

Best regards

Hello,

Which type of data source do you use? I think that when you use a Hub data source, all you have is "data" or "Find by Name".

Agree Simon... it's a limitation?

Hello,

After checking a few things, this was a limitation we needed, but now we can remove this limitation as it is no longer needed. I'll fix this and let you know when the update is available. In the meantime, there's at least one other way to proceed.

  1. Create a new "Private Key" credential, here you should be able to choose "File", enter your username and link your private key file.
  2. Edit your SSH connection and, in the general tab, change "Credentials" to "Linked (Vault)" then select your previously created key.
  3. You must leave the "username" field empty in your SSH connection, as it will use the username you entered for your private key.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further help.

As workaround, yes, I'm doing this way.
