RDM Linux – Broadcast, Macros, and VPN Support Requests
2
Are there any roadmaps to get the linux version of the RDM software to be feature parity with the windows one.
For instance, things like Broadcast. And then the Macros options are just not available in the linux version in the entities view.

Hello everyone,
To help us track and prioritize your requests more efficiently, we are separating each feature request into its own dedicated forum thread. This will make it easier for our team to follow up on progress and for you to get notified when updates happen.
We’ll be closing this thread, but don’t worry — your individual requests have been preserved and moved to new posts. You can find your feature request(s) here:

Hi charks,
We are always reorganizing our roadmap by prioritizing the requests made by our users so we can add what is most valuable for you. The forum is a great place to let us know what functionality you want us to implement in RDM Linux.
As for macros, are you talking about the "After Open - Macro" window in Connection Settings -> Events -> After Open?
As for the broadcast, I just increased the priority of this feature.
Please let us know if there is any other missing feature you would like to use in RDM Linux.

Gabriel,
On the after open section, is that to run a specific macro for every time I open the session? What I am really looking for is to have the ability to run a macro against a session(s) that I may or may not have open, but I do not want to to run every time I open a session.
It is possible to create a "Typing Macro" entry and then right click on your session in the connection tree > Macros/Scripts/Tools > "TheMacroNameEntry". If your session is not already opened, it will open it and then execute the macro. If your session is already opened, it will execute directly.
Please, let me know if that helps.

Yes that works, I guess what I am looking for is to be able to select multiples of entities, and run the same macro (typing macro), but that doesn't appear to work. In all fairness, it doesn't work on Windows either though, only does it to the first one selected. That's where broadcast comes in handy with working with multiple hosts.
Any update on this?
Hi charks,
We didn't start to work on the broadcast feature in RDM Linux yet, however I can tell you that it is a high priority on our list.
We will notify you directly when it's done.
As for the multi select macro issue, we will investigate too.

In RDM Windows there is an option you can find in the typing macro settings called "Allow batch execute". It will allow you to run the macro on multiple selection. Let me know if that helps and we will add it to RDM Linux too..png)

Am I missing something?
Sorry, there may have been a problem with the image, would it be possible to re-attach it please.

At the moment, the "Allow batch execute" option is only in the Windows version of RDM. I just want to make sure that this option would help you since you had the problem in RDM Windows too.

Ahh, yes I see that you did mention windows. So that would make sense.
I understand it is no small undertaking and that things are prioritized based on needs, but I just wanted to take a moment to +1 vote the feature request for feature parity between RDM Windows and RDM Linux.
Thank you,

+1 vote too, its pretty annoying that VPNs are not supported, and not even extensions (There is no reason not to be able to add Cisco AnyConnect client through extension, the tooling has a cli tool which behaves exactly the same as in Win/Mac). Also seems to be buggy when a RDP connection is attached to a linked VPN, just freezes if that VPN is activated manually.
Hello mmitrovic,
I created a ticket to add support for the Cisco AnyConnect client via extension.
Regarding the issue with the linked VPN, could you please provide some details about how it’s set up in RDM? This will help us reproduce and investigate the problem more effectively. Additionally, if you open RDM through the terminal with the "remotedesktopmanager" command, do you see any error messages when RDM freezes?
