Request has come to allow for Firefox to support Devolutions Gateway and for Recording if you can add Edge to that list that would be great.

Hi,

Right now only Chrome Embedded is supported for the simple reason that it exposes an option to set SOCKS5 / HTTP proxy settings. We are currently working on external browser support using the DWL browser extension, but my understanding is that it would only work for Chromium-based browsers. How important is Firefox support over Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge?

We have found if Chrome does does not work going to some cisco devices (with they older non HTML 5 Interface) that Firefox is the only option. We have chrome embedded but Firefox would be the next browser of choice if you could get that to work first it would allow for support with two different browser types.

Thanks, we'll take note to revisit Firefox support and see if there's something we've missed the first time around.

Just wondering if there is any update on this issue?
As long as i know, RDM looks at the deault location of Firefox extention "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\extensions" however the add-on wont be installed in this folder. there is no way to change the default location.
due to this issue, we could not select Firefox Embeded session. Is there any work around?

Hello arash02,

This tread was regarding adding support to Firefox in the Devolutions Gateway, is this what you also wanted to accomplish?

You can always set the path to Firefox under File > Options > Application > Paths > Configure Installation Path and search for Firefox:

Hi,

I have inquired with the RDM team, and the issue is that while we used to support Firefox embedded, we had to drop support a few years back after Firefox stopped supporting the APIs required for embedding by external applications (xulrunner) which we used through the now-deprecated GeckoFX framework. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a suitable replacement, so we are unable to bring back Firefox embedded browser support.

Hi @Mark and @ Richard ,
Thanks for your response.

May I know what is your recommended solution to browse a website with a specific proxy setting?
Currently, Embedded Chrome lets you set up a proxy but it seems not working properly

Thanks

Is firefox still being reviewed for being able to use Devolutions Gateway.

Hi,

As said in my previous reply, Firefox stopped supporting the APIs required for embedding it into Remote Desktop Manager years ago, so we had to remove it. Unless Mozilla changes their mind and provides a proper way to integrate Firefox embedded into third-party programs like ours, our hands are tied.

To clarify: Firefox is not being reviewed for Devolutions Gateway integration, for the simple reason that third-party integration is not possible.

Hello Marc,
I would like to browse a specific website using specific proxy settings without changing the proxy settings on my entire computer or normal browser. Do you have any recommendations on how I can achieve this?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,

Hi Arash,

As of today, the only option is to use Google Chrome embedded to launch a new tab with proxy settings that won't affect the entire computer. You can set those manually this way:

When using Devolutions Gateway for website entries, we can only support browsers for which it is possible for us to inject a proxy configuration dynamically. Right now, this means Google Chrome embedded into Remote Desktop Manager.
