DVLS / RDM 2022 Upgrade Compatability

DVLS / RDM 2022 Upgrade Compatability

Hi all,

We have a DVLS 2021.2.14.0 system, and use RDM 2021.1.44.0 with it. We are looking to upgrade both, but preferably not all RDM users at once.

Unfortunately, DVLS 2022.1.9.0 release has this breaking change: "Core - RDM 2022.1 is mandatory to use DVLS 2022.1. Connection from old RDM will be refused"

However, upgrading RDM first to 2022.1 and trying to use it with our DVLS server (at its current 2021 version) gives me this message: "The data source '...' requires a Remote Desktop Manager version lower or equal than 2021.2.28.0. Please contact your Remote Desktop Manager administrator."

Does this mean that we have to upgrade DVLS and RDM at the same time? We have about 15 users, most of which are field techs that we can't coordinate this kind of upgrade with on the same day.

As a solution, would it be possible just to upgrade DVLS to 2022.1.7.0 instead of the newer 2022.1.9.0? Would this be compatable with the 2021 versions of RDM? I don't see an option to download this version on the previous versions download page.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

RDM and DVLS are 2 product that are closely working together, so if you upgrade your DVLS to 2022.1.7.0 or 2022.1.9.0, you would need to upgrade RDM as well. If you are not upgrading RDM at the same time, the connection with DVLS will not work. So yes, you would need to upgrade both at the same time.

If you would like to perform a remote session with my team to perform the upgrade of your server, let me know, so that we can open a case and schedule an appointment.

Best regards,

Thanks Jeff.

We wound up upgrading DVLS anyway. Not super convenient for our field techs, but it did get done.
