Seeing if user has a private vault in use

avatar

Hello,

In the past, when doing user management, it was possible to see if a user account had a private vault. How can we now see if a user has a private vault in use?
We are using the last available LTS 2020 server version.

Hello,

Thank you for your question. In fact, there is no method using the application to see which user is using its private vault.

I will discuss that with our engineering team and we will keep you posted.

Hello,

We want to understand what is the purpose of listing user accounts that have user vault in use for user management.

Actually, the storage method doesn't allow administrators to know if a user vault contains entries except for his own user vault. By default, all users have a user vault but it can be empty or contains entries. In fact, from the user management page, it's quite complicated or even impossible to know this information from an administrator point of view.

Do you think having a specific report would be sufficient to know that information?

Hello Erica,

Most usable reason for us is, sometimes it is needed to delete an user account from DPS/RDM because a user is having issues with his/her account. In that case it is handy to know if that user has a personal vault in use. In the past it was possible to see that with a green checkmark in user management screen, now it seems to be gone in the web management screen.

Hello,

Thank you for the information.

In fact, the information was available on the older DVLS Console's user management dialog.

We will verify what can be done on the web and will keep you posted.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello,

Regarding the account issues, are they related to a DVLS problem? If so, have you already reported these problems?

When a problematic account has entries in its user vault, do you still delete the account or you try to solve the issue?

Some of these issues, I assume that it's not something that you can resolve. For example a user had a username change, there was something wrong with creation of his AD account. User was not able to login to RDM with his new username as long as the old username was in DVLS. After deleting the account in DVLS, user was able to login with his new AD account.

Knowing if a user is using private vault, we can warn or instruct user to backup his/her entries before deletion.
