Devolutions Launcher 2021.2.13.0 64-bit issue

Devolutions Launcher 2021.2.13.0 64-bit issue

avatar

We have a user who just upgraded to Devolutions Launcher to 2021.2.13.0. The user is unable to connect to any VM after the upgrade. Whenever the VM is opened, the user is getting prompted with an RDP login. We ensured that the user is logged in properly by testing the connection in the Devolutions Server settings. We also tried logging out the user's account from the backend, both Web and Windows logins. The only way we were able to resolved is by downgrading back to the previous version.

Note that I am not seeing this issue using the latest version of the launcher. The only difference I can tell is that I am an administrator. Note that the Devolutions Server is running on a different domain. Not sure if this is a factor with this new version of launcher.

Hello,

What DVLS version are you using?

As long as the user that connects on DVLS is using the appropriate domain user account, it should work in the Launcher.

Is the RDP entries are bind to credential entries? If so, is the user has access to those credential entries on the DVLS web UI, at least with View permission?

Hello,

For your information, I forgot to mention that this Launcher version is a light version of Remote Desktop Manager. Could you please try it and let me know if this user experience the same behaviour with RDM?

You can download it from this page.

2021.1.20.0

That is not what we are seeing. The user is logging on the DVLS using the same domain credentials as the one in Launcher.

Yes. We are using Devolutions to obfuscate a shared login.

If so, is the user has access to those credential entries on the DVLS web UI, at least with View permission?

I have to check this. FYI, the user has no problems with the previous version of the Launcher. I'm not sure this is a permission issue.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

You are right, that's not an issue with permissions but it seems to be related to the DVLS version 2021.1.20.0 with Launcher version 2021.2.13.0. We strongly recommend to use the same major version for DVLS and Launcher. As both applications are closely related, we may encounter unwanted behaviours like this one if we are using mixed major versions.

Another solution if you want to use the latest Launcher version would be to upgrade DVLS to version 2021.2.8.0.

We recommend following the instructions on this online help page to perform the upgrade Upgrading Password Server

We also offer a free remote session to assist you during the upgrade process of your DVLS instance. If you would like to book a session, please send an email to ticket@devolutions.net and we will send you a link to our online reservation system.
