Wayk Bastion / RDM integration

Wayk Bastion / RDM integration

I set aside a lot of time to put up a Wayk Bastion host, but your incoherent and incomplete documentation made sure it took even longer than that. After that, I even managed eventually to guess and stumble my way through to making a connection from a Wayk client to a machine running the Wayk agent, although saving all the necessary credentials appears so far to be impossible. (I used an Oracle cloud free tier Ubuntu 18.04 instance with Caddy to handle reverse proxy and LetsEncrypt SSL cert automation.)

Now, I want to integrate Wayk with my Remote Desktop Manager, but seriously, how? Firstly, where in RDM can I specify the address of the Wayk Bastion server I spent so much time setting up? I see a dropdown with only one possible value ("default"). And then, every attempt to connect ends with:

"Unable to connect to the host. Connections using Wayk Bastion now require a Wayk client license. Apply a client license or rollback..."

I do have a Wayk client license. I entered it on the Bastion server, and I assigned it to a user. How does RDM tell Wayk Bastion which user I am when I want to use that license?

This is all so much harder than it should be :-(

Hello,

We apologize for the issues you encountered configuring your Wayk Bastion; we our updating our documentation and aim to make it simpler. You can always contact us at ticket@devolutions.net if you encounter issues, or post here on the forum.

To add an RDM entry, you would first need to add a Wayk Bastion entry, pointing to the URL you configured. You can then connect to the remote machines, or create subentries to your Wayk Bastion.

Note that the engineering team is working on adding Wayk Bastion as a data source in RDM, it will have a tree view, like you are used to in RDM. It should be ready by the end of January.

Best regards,

Richard Boisvert
