DPS Webapp v2020.2.10 - Can't add entries

When adding entries (specifically Contacts), clicking "Add" doesn't do anything and no error is given. Re-specifying the folder to create the entry in fixes the issue. This occurs about 30-40% of the time.

Chrome Version 86.0.4240.111
DPS Version 2020.2.1

Steps to reproduce (sometimes):

  • In the DPS web app, select a folder and open Add New Entry window (plus icon at the bottom)
  • Select Contact > Company
  • Enter in some required details like a company name, then try saving it
  • If it doesn't save, there will be no error message generated, but the window won't close.
  • Go to General > Folder. There should already be one listed, but click the ellipses to browse for a folder
  • The originally select the folder should be highlighted, so just click ok
  • Add the new contact successfully.

Hello,

Have you upgraded DPS recently?

Are you authenticating on your DPS via RDM as well or you are only using the web interface?
If you are running RDM as well, do you encounter the same issue in RDM?
Which version of RDM are you using in that case?

Hello,
I have not upgrade recently, though I see there is a new version of Devolutions Server available.
I don't have RDM, I am using the DPS only.
I am adding/editing entries using web interface, no other issues with it. DPS login is authenticated through Active Directory.

Thank you for the information.

We cannot reproduce that behaviour internally.

Could you please raise the debug level with the Log Debug Information option in the Logging configuration page and then try again? Then, please verify in Reports - Data Source Logs to see if you get any relevant error messages.

Did so, but there were no messages generated. I also tried this in Firefox to make sure it wasn't browser-dependant, but same error. Also didn't see anything in the browser console logs, for what it's worth.

The most reliable method I have of producing the error is:

  • Highlight a folder to add the contact to
  • Click the + icon to add an account
  • Choose Contact > Company, then Continue
  • Ignore the General section, go directly to the More section
  • In the More section, type something in the description, like "Testing"
  • In the Details section, add a Company name
  • Click "Add". Nothing happens.


To be fair, this is low priority, it's just annoying since I'm entering a bunch of accounts.

Thank you for these detailed steps. I have been able to reproduce this issue. A ticket has been sent to our engineering department. Once an update will be available, we will update this thread.

I have also found two different workarounds for you to be able to create Contact - Company entries.

  • The first one is to create the Contact entry in the root folder. Then move the entry in the destination folder.
  • The second method is to create this Company contact entry in the destination folder, to put something in the General section and the other sections, save the entry and then edit the entry to remove the information in the General section.

I am sorry for that late reply regarding the fix of your issue. With DVLS release 2021.1, you will be able to add entries and having the Add button working.
