Unattended Wayk Session - Lock Screen

Unattended Wayk Session - Lock Screen

avatar

We have set up an unattended Wayk session on a client's computer, but they insist on locking the machine regularly.
When we then inialise the Wayk session, we have to type the password back in on the Windows Lock Screen.

Is there a way around this?

We are using RDM as well so the password will not be available to all of our Staff, so we need a way of bypassing the Lock Screen and gaining unattended access straight onto the machine. Is this possible?

Hello

We don't have the ability currently to automatically unlock the physical user session.

What might work for you is requesting a "virtual" session on the remote machine. In Wayk Now, this is under Options > Advanced > Session; in RDM, it's configured in the entry settings. Under the hood, this establishes an RDP connection on the remote machine using the Windows credentials you provided via SRD (and these credentials can be saved securely in RDM). You should not be prompted to login to Windows in this case.

The underlying RDP session imposes some restrictions, for example the screen resolution may not be what you expect. There is a hidden way to control this, so give this a try and let us know if it works for you, and we can offer some further suggestions to improve the experience.

We do have further improvements for session arbitration on our roadmap that will make all of this more simple, but I can't offer any timeline for changes there.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi,

I've changed the settings in Wayk and in RDM. When attempting to connect via RDM it simply states 'The Connection Could Not be Established'.
Any ideas?

Hello

Can you confirm the OS of the remote machine? Is it Windows 10, and if so - what version? You can open the start menu or run dialog (Windows + R) and launch "winver" to get the exact version number.

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi, i will check - but Wayk seems to have switched to Agent Mode so i've lost the ability to remote onto another machine.
How do i set it back to normal?

Hello

Sorry about that - the timing was unfortunate. We've just released 2020.3.0 which splits Wayk Now into two separate distributions (Wayk Client and Wayk Agent). You can read more about the changes here. Wayk Now is superseded by Wayk Agent, as you've seen; and the client is now a separate download / install.

You can go ahead and download the client installer from here and should be back up-and-running ASAP.

Please let us know any problems or questions

Thanks and kind regards,

HI,

Thanks - sorted the new installation. The client machine is Windows Server 2012 (v6.2 Build 9200).

Hello

Thanks. Is RDP enabled on the system? If not, please enable it and try again.

If it's still not working, can you export a log file from the system? Simply open Wayk Now / Agent on the remote host and choose Help > Export Diagnostics. You'll be prompted for a location to save the logs, and it will produce a .zip file that you can send to wayk@devolutions.net or direct to me via PM.

Thanks and kind regards,
