Hi !

Can someone help me how to go about troubleshooting this situation;

I am running Wayknow Free, version 2020.2.1, on ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Problem : Wayknow fail to connect to Wayk Den.

I haven't been able to figure the reason out.
Reinstallation doesn't help. I've made sure that the configfiles (everything within ~/.config/Wayk) were deleted before installing again; but the problem persists.

I've attached a logfile.

Please, someone help !

Best regards,
Kim

Hi Kim,

We can help you with that, but we would need server log to understand why it doesn't connect to WaykDen. You will find that file here : /etc/wayk/logs/NowService.log. If you could send us that file, we should be able to understand what is going on.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Kim,

I looked in your log and I can see an http call that doesn't work, but I can't understand why with information that I have. What you removed by deleting ~/.config/Wayk folder is configuration for the client part. There is also a configuration for the server part in /etc/Wayk.

What I would suggest you is to zip the folder /etc/wayk and send the zip file to us via email (wayk@devolutions.net). We will try to figure out what happened and see if we could avoid that in future. But after that, you could remove the folder and start the service. It should fix your issue. Here are the commands that you could run :

> sudo systemctl stop now-service
> sudo rm -r /etc/wayk
> sudo systemctl start now-service

After those commands, the service should be able to connect to WaykDen without any problem.

Hi François,

First of all, thank you very much for all your help so far. I'm very impressed with your excellent service !

At the moment, I'm not within reach of the computer in question; but I do have SSH access; so I've tried to copy the files in /etx/Wayk via SCP.
That won't work; maybe some of the files are marked as "root access only" ? I'm refused access through SCP.
I've not changed ownership or anything with these files to make SCP work; maybe this is the basic cause of my problem with the WaykDen connection, and I feel it may be quite important that you get copy of the files without any changes done to them by me, also in respect of the ownership and access attributes. I may destroy important evidence by changing the attributes.

Therefore, I will make a copy of the files and zip them for you, as soon as I can get in touch with the computers keyboard, in person.

I'll be in touch.
Thanks for everything so far.

Best regards
Kim

Hi Kim,

I don't know if you had a chance to try the fix (removing the folder /etc/wayk), but if you didn't try it yet, I would suggest you to look your Wayk Den connection status again before removing the folder. We fixed an issue server side and there is good chance that you were impacted by that issue. If it was the issue, your Wayk Den connection should be connected. If you could confirm that it is fixed or not, I would appreciate. If it is not fixed and your server can't open a connection with the Wayk Den server, please try to zip the /etc/wayk folder to send it to us by email and delete the folder. And yes, there is some files with restriction (private key, .key). You can remove them, it doesn't matter if they are not included. We don't need those files and it is more secure if you don't send them anyway.

Hi François,

You were right, the issue with the server fixed the problem ! The client connects with Wayk Den now without any problems, the green "Ready" is shown in the bottom left; so everything is just perfect.

Thank you for excellent service !

Kim
