windows to debian login not working

Although we officially support (and test on) Ubuntu, Debian should work just fine.

First - can you confirm what credentials you are using to logon? The SRD credential prompt when connecting to the remote machine is asking for the *machine* credentials - i.e. the username and password you would normally use to logon to that computer. Not your Wayk Den credentials (which are used for accessing the web dashboard).

Can you also let us know your Debian version?

ah, righto i'll give that another try, i'll have to reinstall debian again latest release ver. messing around with a faulty asustor nas with a usb ethernet the ethernet ports dont seem to work anymore, i've got a volans vl-rj45 pick's up in debian no install req, i have internet so no issues there. but i have installed linux and windows on it to run like a basic pc and share files, its proving like a lost cause tho, as low powered pc's just dont give me the power to do things i want, but it only uses like 30w, where as the 8350fx uses 120w bit difference but the power and performance is so much better. but windows just chugs while linux sits there nicely waiting for a command, what do you recommend maybe a light version of linux to share files and use wayknow for access from my win pc. i did try x2go but got back screen possibly a gui issue will try a light install gui.

Debian seems like a good choice, it is surprisingly lightweight. Make sure you disable Wayland and use X (Wayland is the default in Debian 10, at least - you need to uncomment the line "#WaylandEnabled=false" in /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf). Wayk Now cannot capture a Wayland display (although it works fine as a client under Wayland) - this may have been your issue with x2go also.
